Assistant Accountant (maternity cover)

Job Description:

Temporary – until end of Jan 2019
Part time – approx. 30 hours per week

We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to cover maternity leave in the finance department. This person will report to the Finance Director, and work closely with the Office Administrator.

The core of the job will be overseeing the purchase and sales ledger. You’ll be responsible for managing payments out to our long list of quirky suppliers, as well as dealing with any queries that arise on purchase invoices. You’ll also be looking after the trade sales ledger, making sure our lovely customers pay us on time, and that any problems are resolved promptly.

You’ll perform the daily bank and payment reconciliations, making sure we know exactly where the money is coming from and going to. You’ll also keep a close eye on all the items entered to Sage to ensure our accounting records are accurate and up to date.

You’ll need to have some previous accounting experience, and perhaps be part-qualified. A background in online retail would be an advantage.

So, just to re-cap, we need someone who:

  • Has some accountancy experience, and understands VAT, purchase ledger and sales ledger
  • Is experienced with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Has experience with Sage, or similar accounting software
  • Communicates brilliantly in person, by email, and over the phone
  • Can organise and prioritise their own work and get on with things
  • Has fantastic attention to detail
  • Is great with numbers
  • Has a can-do attitude
You'll be based in our Head Office in Spitalfields, surrounded by all the latest products, and sometimes a dog or two.

This is a part time role, currently worked 4 days a week. The exact hours worked are negotiable, but will total around 30 hours a week during normal office hours.
