Retro styling with modern size

Better known for making audio cassettes way back in the dark ages (“What’s a D90, Nanna?”), seasoned veterans of sound, TDK, have refused to go the same way; turning their hand to outstanding portable sound systems instead.

Created with all the confidence you’d expect of a company that’s been round the block a few times, the TDK 3 Speaker Boombox is a loving homage to ghetto blasters of the 1980’s. But don’t let the tongue-in-chic styling fool you – this iconic design is packed with thoroughly modern technology, from touch-sensitive controls, to multiple audio inputs.

speaker close-up menu button inputs

6" subwoofer delivers the bass

Touch sensitive menu button and dial

It has inputs for all sorts of cables

Ditching the traditional cassette deck (probably a wise move), the centre of the Boombox is taken up by a high excursion 6-inch subwoofer; while two 6-inch drivers either side of it take care of the crystal clear stereo sound. Perfect for wild nights in or peaceful picnics in the park.

volume and display

Choose your playlist using the Boombox menu and turn the volume all the way to 11!

The multiple ports on the back of the Boombox will cater for all sorts of devices – from MP3 players to mixing desks. You could even blend inputs together, if you fancy playing your electric guitar along to your favourite iPod tracks. The chunky dial and touch-sensitive controls let you balance the sound, while the equaliser gives your musical output its very own visual heartbeat – or cardiac arrest, depending on your guitar skills.
