S-s-s-wipe that touchp-p-pad
Writing about a device that churns out melon-twisting sound effects is a bit like explaining trigonometry via the medium of Morris dancing. But hey ho, we’ll give it a go because the Korg Kaoss Pad Quad
is a must-have accessory for any superstar DJ or musician in need of a touch of w-w-waka-sqwaka-urgh!
This amazing box of tricks leaves rival effects processors in the dust as it lets you control up to four effects simultaneously
and create your own combinations with just one touch. Simply hook up your mixing desk, MP3 player, keyboard, guitar or mic and let your fingers do the swiping. With 1,295 combinations
you’ll have the dancefloor dripping in no time.
All set up ready to rock
As with other Kaoss boxes you just tap and slide your finger across the touchpad to produce dramatic real-time changes in the sound. You can also ‘freeze’
effects via a button that memorises your finger’s last position. The Quad’s pimped-up touchpad even features colourful LEDs
for kaleidoscopic effects when you’re mixing. Like, crazy, man!
Even if you’ve never waggled a crossfader you’ll be recording, looping, chopping, stacking and creating musical mayhem before you can say ‘Ducking Compressor Function’.
Twenty different effects
Inputs and connections on the back
are included, with the usual suspects such as distortion, delay, reverb, flanging and phasing. And don’t worry if your timekeeping’s out of whack because the Quad features Auto BPM engine detection
and Tap Tempo
to keep it locked to the beat. All you need now is a packed dancefloor and a bit of talent. Actually, forget that; the Kaoss is so easy to use and so entertaining you can do without both. C’mon, we really wanna see those fingers!
