What is it with all these über trendy art toys? You don't really need them. And they don't even do anything. In fact most of 'em are about as much use as a set of spam spectacles on a tap-dancing bowl of soup. But as the popularity of Qees, Neo-Kaiju and a whole host of others has shown, you can't get enough of the fashionable little designer blighters.
In fact it seems that 'art-toyitis' is sweeping the globe, because collectors are swapping, selling and hoarding their figures like never before. But just when you thought you were getting on top of your collectables along come Dunnys Series 2 to give you something completely new to obsess over.
If you're a fan of JapAmerican art, cutting-edge design, street culture, underground comics and, er, rabbit-like toys, you're gonna love Dunnys Series 2. That's because these all new 3" mini vinyl figures feature designs from some of today's top creatives, including Glen Barr, Huck Gee, Kenzo Minami, Frank Kozik, DR. REVOLT, Queen Andrea, Sket One, TADO, Tristan Eaton and UPSO.
Looking like a cross between that sinister bunny thing off Donnie Darko and a Tex Avery cartoon critter, Dunnys are blind-boxed so you never know which one you're going to get (and neither do we). And that's the fun of it. It's a bit like collecting bubblegum cards. Without the bubblegum. Or the, er, cards.
On the side of each Dunnys box there's a list of 18 possible figures ( 16 standard and 2 mystery designs ) along with a percentage rate that shows your chances of finding the Dunny in question inside. In addition, there is the chance of finding one of only six unique hand-painted originals, which is one of the reasons collecting these blind-boxed figures is so compelling. And that's also why some figures are so rare they'll soon be changing hands for big bucks.
You Dunny have to be Einstein to work out how excited we are by these mega-collectable little critters. That said, you really need to experience the golden-ticket-level of anticipation that opening the box generates to fully appreciate their pulling power. So what are you waiting for? Let the Dunny craze commence!
