In the future watches won't be necessary. We'll simply tap into our globally synched, broadband enabled brain clocks and the time will instantly appear behind our widescreen retinas. Or something like that. Until then mankind will have to make do with wristwatches. But why settle for dull digits and dials when you can go binary with the astonishingly original Binary Watch.
Quite why this ultra stylish timepiece is named after an Indian state and a psychological state is anyone's guess, but that's hardly important when you see the Binary Watch in action. Looks wise, think Tron meets the Bionic Man by way of Battlestar Galactica. Functionality wise, think, er
well, think of something 'cos we've never seen anything like it!
Basically the Binary Watch displays the time in binary format. Confused? You won't be, because once you get the hang of it you'll wonder what you ever saw in all that boring big hand/little hand business. In a nutshell this super chic wristwatch uses two rows of LEDs to indicate hours and minutes. The upper row consists of four LEDs that denote the hours. The value of each LED is printed above it (1, 2, 4, 8). The lower row, consisting of six LEDs, indicates the minutes (1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32). To tell the time you simply press the function button and add up the value of the illuminated LEDs. So if the four and the two (4+2=6) are lit on the top row, and the eight and two (16+4+2=22) are lit on the lower row it's 6:22. Get it? Got it? Good!
After a few glances you'll be telling the time faster than you can say 'My watch dumps on yours,' and the double-takes you'll receive from curious onlookers are guaranteed to surpass those generated by the ostentatious blingwatches worn by the P Diddys and Beckhams of this world. Indeed, the Binary Watch is more than a mere wristwatch: it's a unique timepiece for the style-savvy sophisticate who knows a good time when he sees one! Better still it's water resistant to 30 metres, so you can pose in and around the pool (or bath), secret agent-style and pretend you're receiving orders from your leader on the Planet Tharg. (We really should get out more). What time is it? It's time to buy!
