Platinum Cube

Puzzles, shmuzzles - we thought we'd seen everything until the Bedlam Cube arrived here at Firebox House. But having played with this tortuously vexing block we now realise there's life in the old put-it-back-together puzzle genre yet.

In fact, the Bedlam Cube should come with a bottle of hair restorer, or at the very least a hat, because if you're anything like us you'll pull most of your barnet out trying to reassemble the gleaming little brain mangler.

Platinum Cube

Said to be the hardest and most addictive 3D puzzle ever, the Bedlam Cube consists of 13 unique geometric shapes which must be put together to form a cube. Sounds easy, but take it from us, it isn't. This deceptively difficult puzzle has 19,186 different solutions and there are so many combinations of play that attempting it at random could take months - even years. It's only through practice and familiarity that the puzzle can be solved.

Platinum Cube
To make things even more frustrating/amusing, we're stocking a truly mind-boggling Platinum cube and a devilish Wooden cube. Both will throw the mind's eye and bamboozle the memory. Indeed, having mentally tortured ourselves trying to solve the maddening Bedlam Cube without the aid of a blowtorch and sledgehammer, we were staggered to discover that its name is not inspired by the infamous lunatic asylum. The infuriatingly addictive Bedlam Cube is actually named after its creator, Bruce Bedlam.

And if you think that's a coincidence, consider this: when recently demonstrating the correct way to solve the Bedlam Cube, our boss accidentally dropped all thirteen pieces in the crate marked 'Bedlam Cubes' and emerged with a perfectly completed puzzle! Cheaters aside, we really can't stress how entertaining and addictive this ingenious puzzle is. Come and have a go, 'cos we think it's hard enough!
