New Laserpod Base Station:

The mind-blowing Laserpod is now available in a neat, sleek Base Station. This new model allows you to place it on a table, mount it on a wall or rotate the orb to project it in exactly the direction you want!

Laserpod Original

Laserpod Basestation: Move it in any direction!

Remember the nebulous, psychedelic sky from Flash Gordon? (We're talking 'Gordon's Alive?' Flash, not the rickety old B/W series). Well imagine looking at it through a kaleidoscope from inside Jim Morrison's altered state of mind and you'd begin to understand the mesmerizing beauty of the Laserpod.

Yes indeed, light lovers; using the latest in laser, LED and crystal optics, the incredible Laserpod brings science and nature together to create ever-changing organic light forms of profound beauty. At least that's what it says on the box. But in this case, we'd have to agree.

Laserpod Original

Laserpod Original with diffuser

Created by lighting artist extraordinaire Chris Levine in conjunction with top fashion snapper Mario Testino, the cast aluminium Laserpod Original contain a class 2 red laser plus blue and orange LEDs which are projected through a rotating cut glass crystal onto two specially coated, clip-on plastic diffusers. Are you still with us? Good.

The effect is not dissimilar to a kind of hi-tech, souped-up lava lamp. But all this is just a preamble to the main event. Because with the diffusers in place, the Laserpod acts as a spectacularly captivating piece of ambient lighting. Remove them, though, and the room is immediately transformed into a mind-boggling supernova of nebulous kaleidoscopic light. Try saying that after a few pints of loudmouth soup! (Which, incidentally, is probably the best time to appreciate the marvellously mind numbing qualities of the Laserpod). With the Laserpod Original you can choose between two dazzling displays - red laser for a scintillating astral projection or a red laser / blue LED combination for awesome cosmic cloud effects.

We don't need to tell you what a brilliant device this is for when you seriously need to chill. Indeed, the Laserpod makes all other light show-type devices look about as impressive as those traffic light affairs that end-of-the-pier DJs employ when playing the disco version of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Laserpod Original

Psychedelic!

Despite its power, the Laserpod only requires 3 x AA batteries, but it can also be operated using the supplied mains adapter. (Handy, as time becomes an abstract phenomenon when you're busy being visually assaulted by the Laserpod).

This is one item that really has to be seen to be disbelieved, and we confidently predict the Laserpod will move off our shelves faster than you can say 'Wow, man; these shape-shifting beams of light are really twisting my melon.'

Laserpod Galaxy offers a warm, more intimate, colour blend with a resonance embedded in dance culture. Galaxy was developed by Laserpod and Galaxy Radio, especially for Ibiza and was featured in super-clubs like Pasha, Space and El Divino throughout the summer as a signature for top DJs Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold and Jade Jagger!

visitor avatar I was given my laserpod original a few years ago and I am well impresed with it unfortunatley I have lost my lenses for it, would it be poss if you could email me and let me know where I can get another one and how much it will cost, thanks.
Tommy, Corby Northants - 18th December 2011
Firebox says: Hi Tommy, if you could drop us an email at info@firebox.com with your order number, we will see what we can do to help. Thanks
visitor avatar Im going to but some as xmas presents which colours nicest? all blue or the other model, please heeelp soon.
Galey, N.ireland - 7th December 2011
Firebox says: Hi Galey, the main difference between them is just the shape and size of the housing. All the ones above at the time of writing are the Galaxy model, and they have a red laser together with a blue LED and an amber LED. And they're all beautiful!
visitor avatar I've had a Laserpod for about 6 years and I love it, It's recently broke after moving house so I'll be buying a new one. One thing to mention, A comment made by Alex Miles on Feb 7th asks about the difference between the original Laserpod and the original galaxy Laserpod - there IS a difference. 'Galaxy' models have red, blue and orange LEDs, whereas the original just use different shades of blue.
Alex Coady, Newcastle Upon Tyne - 5th August 2011
visitor avatar I want to buy one of these but have a question before choosing the model. The new 'base' model - does it rotate the light automatically (like the original model), or is it static and you rotate it with the new swivel option?
Richard, Manchester - 27th July 2011
Firebox says: You rotate the lens yourself Richard, allowing you to direct it in whichever direction you choose.
visitor avatar I am considering buying the Laserpod original galaxy, but I am confused. What's the difference between the Laserpod original and the Laserpod original galaxy?
Alex Miles, Grantown On Spey - 7th February 2011
Firebox says: Hi there Alex, all of the Laserpod's are called 'Galaxy' - so there is only one Laserpod Original Galaxy, there is not one purely called 'Laserpod Original.' Hope this clears it up.
visitor avatar I bought the original laserpod 4 months ago (ish) and when ever I turn it on it makes weird clicking noises as the crystal turns to refract the light. At night its extremely annoying as its rather loud, is it supposed to do this? the lights them selves work perfectly but the noise is that annoying I turn it off pretty quickly! any feedback or are other people noticing this or is mine faulty?
Mark Braithwaite, Lake District - 21st January 2011
Firebox says: Sounds like it may be faulty Mark, drop us an email Mark and we can look to resolve this - info@firebox.com
visitor avatar I was given the original lamp as a present two years ago in anticipation of the night-feeds to come. The lamp has been used in projector clouds mode as a night light, often all night, for the past 22 months. It was great for night feeds by the way, enough light to see by, but calming so there was no problem getting back to sleep afterwards. The only drawback is that I now need to replace it because the motor is making a loud rattling noise. The dilemma is which model....
AM, Doncaster - 15th January 2011
visitor avatar Can the base station be attached to a wall?
Georgia Hawkins, London - 13th January 2011
visitor avatar I bought the laserpod galaxy as a christmas present and was really impressed until it stopped working within a few days, after a couple of uses. The lights still work but the crystal has stopped rotating so the light display is static. It hadsn't taken any damage or been bumped around so I have no idea why this has happened. Is there anything that can be done to fix it? i am very dissapointed.
Emma, London - 6th January 2011
Firebox says: Hi Emma, please get in touch via info@firebox.com and we can try and resolve this for you.
visitor avatar I was bought a Laserpod Satellite as a birthday present a couple of years ago and enjoyed the swirling galactic patterns on my bedroom ceiling but it wasn't until my son was born three months ago that it really became essential. He wouldn't settle in his cot until one night when we put the laserpod on and now he drifts off to sleep happily. Even if he wakes up in the night he has a contented gurgle, watches the lights and drops back off. The best bit of kit ever!!!
