Flashflight Nightflyer
Close encounters of the flying glowing kind
Sorry, this product is not available.
We were about to begin this by saying that flying discs came in all shapes and sizes. But thinking about it, they don't really, do they? Ever since some bored baker picked up an empty pie tin in the back yard of the Frisbie Baking Company, the basic shape of everyone's favourite flying disc has hardly changed at all - and that was well over 100 years ago. That's because the flying disc is pretty perfect as it is. Changing it would be like redesigning the wheel. So how do you improve a design classic and give it a 21st century makeover without spoiling the basic concept? Simple - you secrete a tiny low profile battery inside, install a few fibre-optic channels, finish off with an ultrabright LED and Robert's your mother's brother.
The truly spectacular Flashflight Nightflyer employs cutting-edge technology to achieve its ethereal radiance, and is so stunning as it soars through the night sky we wouldn't be surprised if Mulder and Scully turned up to investigate. The Flashflight looks, feels and flies just like a regular flying disc and, thanks to the aforementioned ultra-high brightness LEDs and fibre optic channels, can also be used at night.
This isn't some blink-and-you'll-miss-it, fly-by-night plaything. The Flashflight is visible from all angles because all disc surfaces are illuminated - the top deck glows, there's a radiant array on the concave underside and there are nine laser-like dots on the perimeter of the rim. It really does look like something that's escaped from Area 51 by way of a radioactive supernova. The Flashflight is great for early evening fun and games as well as pitch black parties al fresco. And the danger of getting a faceful of disc due to lack of light is seriously slim at any hour.
The teeny lithium battery lasts for up to 120 hours (red version) - a lot of playing time - and can easily be replaced without the use of tools. Better still, the Flashflight is water-resistant and the contacts are stainless steel, so you can play come day, night, rain or shine. You could even take it on holiday and play in the sea as it also floats. Just make sure there are no oil tankers passing - the Flashflight is so bright it could well be mistaken for some newfangled light house.
This literally brilliant flying plaything really is the greatest innovation to hit discdom in over a century. Never again will you have to cut short your chuck around or game of Ultimate just because the sun has gone down. So don't be afraid of the dark - give it a spin.

You may not know that there is much more to the sport than the humble chuck around on the beach (which itself has been elevated to an art by 'freestylers'). The sport of Ultimate is one of the fastest-growing in the world and is like a nicer, no-contact version of American Football, crossed with Netball. They are truly awesome and really do look the mutts at night, just watch out for trees when you're running in the dark... Ouch!
It is a little weightier than other frisbees but that is nothing compared to the fun you'll have, if you can get it back off your mates that is.Kelly, Reading, Berkshire - 8th December 2004
Totally amazing!I have the blue version it attracts attention[and players!!]whenever you take it out to play...and it flies well too!!Great for the money as a pro frisbee from the USA costs about the same but this is soooo much more fun!!Go on you know you need one!!Andrew Birch, Rotherham - 9th September 2004
hmmm, well where do i start. A bit of background maybe. I am a final year design student at Brunel. Between me and five mates over three years we have played a lot of frisbee. We have had a large number of different frisbee's in our time and none we have taken so much care of as the "flashflight". The frisbee itself is a little heavier and in comparison a lot more expensive than regular frisbee's. The weight issue does the frisbee no harm, at first i thought the weight may affect the flight but in reality it really isn't that much heavier and after five minutes she will be flying like a bird. The weight balances out the frisbee even in windy conditions and very soon you will be throwing it further than any other frisbee ever allowed [excluding aerobie's that is, but lets face it my nan could throw an aerobie a couple of hundred yards and as such they dont even count as proper frisbee's] The price is more expensive than the average £3 spinning disk but it is well worth it. In daylight the frisbee is of the highest quality and flies better than any, in dusk it looks cooler than just about anything you have ever seen, and at night not only does it make it possible to keep playing for hours but also means you have a great chance of hoaxing a UFO scam and getting some of your twenty quid back. Honestly though the only real problem with the frisbee is that Firebox in their wisdom offer it in more than one colour. Neil suggests blue, i have red and really do recommend it.
i hope for all you people reading that when you click 'add to basket' you only get offered one colour otherwise it will take two more days to decide. The red does look awesome, the computer graphics on the web-site are not put on, or over dramatised, it really does look like that in the dark. Please see my photo for proof!!
i can only end by saying you will not be disappointed whether its a gift for another, or just for you and your mates. (Red is the way to go)!!!!James, Runnymede - 26th May 2004
With the unseasonal sunshine last week, my fellow universitarians were attracted out with frisbees.
However, dozens of our aerobie style frisbees now adorn the higher trees on campus, and several injuries were sustained when attempting to play after nightfall on the golf-course.
"Flashflight" came to our rescue. Not only has it got the proper weight of the traditional frisbee, but its beautiful glowing aura has significantly reduced night-time bruisings (although Megan did fall into a bunker).
I think everyone who is planning to have fun this summer needs a Flashflight Frisbee (electric-blue is the way to go).
