This ominous looking contraption scared us half to death before we'd even put the batteries in! In fact, we reckon its designers drew inspiration from the Planet Mongo, as Lightning Reaction Xtreme resembles something Ming the Merciless might have used to extract information from Flash Gordon.
And we were right to be apprehensive, because Lightning Reaction Xtreme could easily be called Frightening Distraction. Basically, this perilous little party plaything is a suspense-drenched game of nerve and split-second timing, where losers receive a nasty (but harmless) electric shock. Four curvaceous handles sit on a circular base like a quartet of chrome cobras ready to strike. Simply select your handle, pick the number of victims...sorry, players (2-4) and press the red start button. Lightning Reaction Xtreme immediately begins to flash and wails like a banshee playing a broken viola with a shard of glass.
The menacing Hitchcockian sound FX are scary enough, but the real drama occurs the moment the music stops and the button glows green. The last player to press the button on their handle receives an electrifying frazzle that's guaranteed to turn the air blue and force involuntary facial contortions from both winners and, more amusingly, losers.
In fact, the look on players' faces as Lightning Reaction Xtreme delivers its electrifying coup de grâce is probably the most entertaining aspect of the whole nerve-jangling process.
There are two modes, 'Normal' and 'Extreme'. In Normal mode the last person to press gets the shock. In Extreme mode, however, only the fastest player avoids the shock. And you can forget about cheating - pressing your button before the all-clear only means you get the shock early. The literally shocking contraption also boasts an optional 'high power' setting for a bigger zap. Lightning Reaction Xtreme is a side-splittingly spiteful test of skill and will, and we guarantee you'll love and hate it in equal measures. Because like we said before, pain is excruciatingly close to pleasure. Hilariouzzzz!

I saw this on the reality show Big Brother-5 in the US. The producers gave the last 7 people this game to play with and I have to say that I have to have one. I am ordering one right now, can't wait. I have never seen a game that produces so much fun and die hard laughing.

Bought this for my brother as a christmas present. I imagined it to be a lovely and fun game to play, something full of festive spirit. How wrong I was, little did I realise that I was awful at the game. After being shocked around 18 times in a row! my arm ached. Of course me brothers loved it. This is a great gift to give someone and is a must have well done firebox!

Brilliant, Still laughing now thinking about it. The shock is a bit more than you would expect but a great laugh.
The first time someone new to the game gets a shock is one of the funniest things you will ever see. Brilliant after a few drinks when people aren't as quick as they should be.

Early attempts revealed that it's not only the last to react that gets the shock - after a certain time, everyone who's yet to react gets it. This led to much fun strategically placing all four grips on one person and letting nature take it's course. World-class entertainment.

I own this game and it is really great fun! It doesn't hurt nearly as much as most people expect, but it does make you scream!

What a great attention getter this game is at parties. Everyone wants to play it, and it gets people laughing without stopping. My friends have found some other very interesting uses for it.

No more oiling the Twister mat to create a sense of danger; me vs 3 drunken brothers, Christmas 2003. All trying desperately feign bravado...
You grab hold of the handles, not quite knowing what to expect. The light flashes green, weird spooky music surrounds you and you try desperately to concentrate, just waiting for the light to turn red. Unfortunately, I got the first shock and turned the air blue (much to the horror of my nieces and nephews) with my exclamation of pain. Much hilarity ensued whereupon it turned into a 'loser drinks a tumbler of alcohol' game. Revenge: My brothers lost as I regained the use of my hand!!

I received this as a present a little while ago and it is amazing. The first time you play, you don't really get into it, as a result you lose, get shocked, and return as a much more determined competitor. It may seem a bit strange that your motivation to play the game is soley based on avoiding pain but ther you go. Try playing it as a drinking game, i.e. the shocked person also has to down two fingers and you will find losers spiralling into a drink/get drunker/lose again/scream with pain/drink again loop that never fails to amuse.

Hot potato meets electrified Russian roulette thanks to this fiendishly amusing little ball. Simply pass it around quickly and pray you're not the one who receives a nasty but harmless electric shock. Totally random, utterly hilarious!
