The history of movies is littered with monumental moments: the first 'talkie' back in 1927, the first Oscar ceremony in 1929, the groundbreaking animation in Disney's Fantasia and, of course, that bit in Commando when Arnie tells Bennett to "let off some steam" before impaling him on a ventilation pipe. Had researched this DVD player (7 inch screen version)through many sites on the internet but firebox supplied the best package for the money. My reason for purchase is a move to Stockholm for 9 months and could not take my full sized multi-region player with me. I intend to hook up the portable player to a TV and use it as a normal player while we are there. On our return my partners kids will be able to use it in the car.
I could not believe the speed of delivery! The day after I ordered it my e-mail confirmation came and the parcel was delivered the same day (or it would have been if I had been in - Whoops!)Anyway they delivered again the next day and I tried it out straight away. The picture and sound quality are absolutely amazing! I never expected anything so clear from a player so small. I proceeded to watch 'Finding Nemo' as have twin discs - one wide screen, one normal. I could not fault it! The picture quality is so good that my partner and I watched DVDs on it that night. Once you get into the film you really are unaware that you are watching it on a screen so small. I'll give it a 9 out of 10 for the moment as we have yet to try it in Sweden......I will be in touch! Originally ordered two 5" players for my kids. I was so impressed with the quality when they arrived that I changed the order to two 7". These were delivered in 24 hours and do everything they claim. Played all disc formats including multi-region present bought from America. The screen is incredible, the sound fantastic and the range of functions is better than some home players. I bought one of these for my wife, she is extremely intelligent and her mind works overtime so the only way she can switch off is watching the box. However, when we are away on holiday she only has foreign channels, with nothing for her to see. Now though she has this DVD player, she is over the moon and can watch all her favourite films. Well worth the money, buy it without any fears, a bargain. However, I didn't get any sweets. Delighted with our purchase; I bought this for my brother who was in hospital with a long-term illness and thought it would come in handy for watching the odd movie. However, seeing as it's XVID/DIVX compatible it was a breeze to get hold of the lastest tv shows, rip them to dvd, and keep him up to date. I'm pleased to say that, although my brother is now back home, the Shinco player is still getting plenty of use. Excellent value and feature-packed in comparison to other (more expensive) portable players available on the high street. Highly recommended, and quick delivery from Firebox too.T., Kent - Jan '07
I bought the Shinco 1850 2 years ago for my boyfriend and he loves it. He travels lots and always takes it with him. The picture quality is amazing. Friends who have other makes are always very jealous.

... don't forget the full function remote control (complete with battery). You can do things with this player that you wouldn't think by looking at it with the remote in your hand. One thing to note - the 7" 16 x 9 one comes in 4 x 3 mode by default but stretching the screen, which is disappointing at first. Then you realise that if you take the remote and tell the player it is widescreen, it uses the full display as it should. A seriously nice bit of kit. This is a superb DVD player which certainly makes those long tedious journeys go much quicker. Reproduction is excellent and the machine looks a lot more expensive than it actually is, so yes, people will be looking very enviously! Bought a Shinco 10" 2 years ago - and it has execeeded my expectations! A fantastic screen, easy to use, with a wealth of features. Easily connects to a TV. BUT the biggest advantage for me - plays almost anything I can throw at it! When I miss shows on TV, I often find them somewhere on the web BUT in quite a variety of formats. Ordered 10. 2" model Sunday night, and delivered Tues morning. Great service and no messing about.
Unit is great out of the box. Hooked it to my audio hi fi and put on some Rory Gallagher. Excellent picture which I can see across my music room.
Intend to use this for playing dvd's, for use plane travelling between here and Spain, and using as a dvd player connected up to the tv in Spain.

However, I misread about the carrying case (it just comes with the 7" model ?) and so placed an order today for your own 10" case to carry all the gubbins.

Had a 7" Shinco DVD for nearly 3 years and its been great. The in car charger lead (through much use!) is now too loose and the DVD cuts out. I can't see anywhere to order a replacement. Any ideas?Nigel Finch, Wilmslow, Cheshire - Sep '06
