Pearl Dust
Ooh, look at the (pearl) dust on that!
Pearls have long been associated with beauty, power and mystical energy - they were originally thought to be droplets of moonlight, or tears of the gods, and legend has it Cleopatra consumed one in order to seduce Mark Antony. Indeed, these coveted little spheres of pleasure have been revered as potent aphrodisiacs for aeons.
Made from 100% crushed pearls
But who wants to go round eating the awkward little blighters whole? After all, despite their rarity and beauty, Pearls are essentially bivalve bi-products, created when a foreign body, such as a grain of sand, enters the creature's membrane-esque mushy bits. Well, the good news is, if you pound pearls into a fine dust they can be sprinkled quickly and easily into a delicious array of food and drink, and apparently, the uplifting effect is even more compelling.
If you're wondering what all this has to do with your love life/eating habits, wonder no more. Because, thanks to our good friends at Edible, you too can now enjoy the edifying qualities of Pearl Dust without having to take a sledgehammer to your Auntie Beryl's favourite necklace.
Another strange but wonderful food product from Edible.
Edible Pearl Dust is derived from genuine, hand-crushed Chinese and Japanese pearls, and is perfect for stirring into champagne or white wine, as it gives drinks a sexy, shimmering lustre. Pearl Dust is also a great way to give choccy desserts that decadent finishing touch, and makes bog standard icing sugar seem about as cool and edgy as Paul from S Club.
Pearl Dust is presented to you in a chic little glass vial, so you can use it anytime, anyplace. In fact, this wondrously natural powder is so versatile we've even been sprinkling it into our crisps and adding it to our fizzy drinks. It really is the classiest condiment we've ever seen!

Quirky gift but the picture you see above is not the remains of a bottle, that's how much you get. That makes it more expensive than cocaine. So I'm told.Davie, Glasgow - 16th February 2004
Upon receiving my Pearl dust I created a new cocktail to celebrate. 'Last of the Architects'combines apple juice, bison grass vodka, lemonade & champagne and of course a sprinkle of Pearl dust. When submerged the particles of dust turn into mini pearls themselves - enjoy!Steve Nixon, Manchester - 29th August 2003
