Those of you old enough to remember Kojak will recall how the lovable old slaphead was forever slurping on his lollipop. Goodness knows what he'd make of these radical variations on his favourite stick-based confection, but we like to think "who loves ya baby" would figure in his response. So what's so special about these lollies? Well, our good friends at Edible have miraculously managed to encase a genuine Chinese scorpion and a deceased worm in delicious vodka and tequila flavoured lollies respectively. No, really!

Insectilix Lolly The scorpion is actually quite an attractive little fellow (if you like deadly arachnids), and he even glows under ultraviolet light, making this lolly the perfect fashion accessory when you're out clubbing or hanging around the sunbed centre. It almost seems a shame to eat him. But believe us, once you've slurped away at his transparent, vodka-tinged enclosure, you'll be unable to resist biting into his delightfully chewy, segmented abdomen. Although his sting has been removed, this lolly still has plenty of va va voom, as the Chinese scorpion is said to be a potent aphrodisiac when eaten.

Insectilix Lolly Moving onto the Tequilalix lolly, we all know that tequila makes you happy, but what's the worm all about? (And before any of you pedants out there write to tell us it's mescal, not tequila that contains the worm, we know - it's only a flipping lolly though). Well, this lolly contains a worm for the same reason the drink does - it looks seriously cool! Simple as that. What's more, the little fellow incarcerated inside has been specially bred and is 100% edible.

Insectilix Lolly The new Antilix lolly is a peppermint lolly which contains real farm raised ants! The ants are specially bred Polyrachis Black Ants and they have a spicy, peppery taste similar to chilli peppers. Ants are said to be good for you, giving an energy boost, and the peppermint is great for freshening your breath. Ant-tastic!

Firebox says: We think they are absolutely LOVELY! Go on try some!
visitor avatar Are the insects real or are they plastic, and what exactly are they ?? I only need to know because I was going to buy some for a friend as an Xmas present ??
Aleisha Pitkeathly, United Kingdom - 8th November 2011
Firebox says: The insects are 100% real, Aleisha! They are a scorpion in a vodka flavoured lolly (don't worry, the sting has been removed), a worm in a tequila flavoured lolly and ants in a peppermint flavoured lolly. The perfect Christmas present!
visitor avatar Are these school safe?
Clive, Chester le Street - 21st May 2011
Firebox says: They don't contain traces of nuts, sharp objects or alcohol Clive, if that helps.
visitor avatar I liked the worm one the best because it was like popcorn that is if you can call that a worm. My second favourite was scorpion because it was like chocolate even though I was sick afterwards the ant one not so much because the ants tasted like metal. But a good order thank you Firebox.
George, Chester le Street - 21st May 2011
visitor avatar Tried the ant one a few years back and it wasn't bad! The lollipop is pleasantly minty and the ants taste like a cross between burnt toast and pepper, slightly crunchy too.

visitor avatar Scorpion is an arachnid actually.
George, Chester - 14th May 2011
visitor avatar My wife bought me the three lollies for my 40th in the week. While the dog has had a bit of a go at the scorpion one, I've just had the ant one - much to the other half's disgust (what? you buy a lolly and didn't expect it to be eaten?). The Antlix one was gorgeous and really pepperminty! I mean, forget sucking on a tube of toothpaste, this made my tongue hurt. I've eaten ants before, but never remember them tasting like little bits of iron. Guessing it's the way they've been cooked or something like that. Anyway, I'm going to clean the scorpion and have that one. The worm, I've promised to eat on the way to work! Thanks!!!!

visitor avatar Firstly, thanks Firebox for getting my parcels to me just in time for Xmas as most things were delayed with the bad snow. I bought my boyfriend and brother the pack of 3 lollies each and we all had one of each on xmas day. I had the scorpion and didn't like the tasteless lolly and had a lot of licking to get to it, but was fun biting the head off when I got to it, lol. Great buy for Xmas or a Birthday or if u like watching i'm a Celebrity which my boyfriend does.
Steph, Aberdeenshire - 27th February 2011
visitor avatar Tiny and not worth the money at all. I feel ripped off!
Lisa, Belfast - 12th January 2011
visitor avatar Hi! I got my bro one and he loves it, it was the vodka version - smaller than expected - lol but great product.
