Eating chocolate is not something most of us usually associate with raw, buttock-clenching tension. A quick straw poll around Firebox HQ showed that the closest any of us has ever come to this pleasure-meets-pain-style sensation was when we shared a tube of Smarties whilst watching the final episode of 24.

roulette chocolateThe thing is, chomping on choccy has always been a relatively humdrum experience... Until now.

Because by combining one of life's great pleasures (chocolate) with one of death's best buddies (Russian Roulette), clever confectioners have come up with this fiendishly amusing gift box.

Seated in individual compartments, twelve chocolate bullets lay waiting to be bitten into. Although eleven of the sweet little slugs contain delicious praline centres, one conceals a seriously red hot chilli that's guaranteed to blow your head off - metaphorically, at least.

The great thing about encasing something so palate-peelingly hot in chocolate is that it takes a few seconds for the 'victim' to register that he or she has just bitten into the wrong bullet. So relief and delight are rapidly replaced by abject horror, an expression reminiscent of Kenneth Williams getting into a hot bath, a volley of garbled expletives and a manic sprint to the nearest tap!

As far as Russian Roulette-style games go, this is right up there with old chestnuts like the Beer Hunter - you know, when you shake up a couple of cans, mix them with a dozen untouched ones, and then jerk the ring pulls in close proximity to your head.

visitor avatar I got this as a side present for one of my friends for her birthday. I brought it in and we played it with about 5-6 people in lunch at school. The last two bullets of course had to come down to us two - and she got the chilli one. This is great fun and I would advise getting it for any occasion.

visitor avatar This was an amazing little treat. I got it for christmas as a little side prezzie from my bro. There was 6 of us all playing around the table, we'd all had a go once and there were three bullets left. My dad chomped one and 'Coorhh! It's the chili!' Followed by lots of gasping. Great, highly recommended.

visitor avatar I actually bought this for my brother in law and we played it on xmas day last year. We put 50p bets on every go we had and whoever got the chilli choc won the money. Well he got it, we even saw the red jelly on his tongue. So we decided to finish off the chocs. I puyt one in my mouth and tasted chilli!! YES, they'd accidently put 2 chilli ones in the box, my shock was worse of all because I wasnt prepared for it!! FANTASTIC GAME!!

visitor avatar Nothing happens at first but then on the tip of your tongue it burns. I drank two whole jugs of water after I got it.

visitor avatar My friend bought this for his bithday the other week. I got the chilli bullet and I was delighted as it was actually really nice Chilli and chocolate go really well together. Yum! Not as hot as I was expecting though which was a shame.

visitor avatar Yes - I can personally testify sugar will definitely ease the pain - and since its a main ingredient in chocolate it explains why the chili isn't as hot as some would expect.

visitor avatar Tried this game ages ago with my mate Ben. Were laughing so hard we were crying. The anticipation was the best thing. I am now sure if I was just immune but the chilli was not hot at all. Pretty ho hum. I was expecting my pants to burst into flame s or something cool like that. It was just a little tingle. Mind you I was going through a tabasco phase at the time. Had to have tabasco on everything. Ate away a lot of the lining on the inside of my mouth. Anyhow I think you should use a more hardcore chilli perhaps one of the purple tigers or those really tiny buggers that make you cry!! Great idea all and all keep up the good work.

visitor avatar Great game, there was 4 of us playing it, one of us got it in the first round. We actually saw the pepper seeds!! Hilarious!! Although, then we all began eating the rest of the choccies and I got another one!! What are the odds?? Absolutly DISGUSTING, but was a laugh all the same.

visitor avatar The most hilarious and scary game me and my 4 friends have ever played. We all picked one up each at a time and ate them at the same time. First 4 were fine, then the next 4, fine, finally we knew it was one of the last 4, the tension built, my friends were crying with laughter, we all took one, and my friend pete got it. He thought it was so gross he spat it in my bin, Hilarious, thanks firebox - you rock as always. :D
