Brought to you by the legendary Glen Grant Distillery in Scotland, this incredibly collectable, limited edition single malt whisky is one of the world’s longest aged whiskies. Despite being trapped in a cask for 60 years (the exact period Queenie’s been on the throne) the nose of this truly magnificent whisky remains incredibly fresh and juicy, with an apple-y hint and a tail of cinnamon and allspice. So we hear. Well we’re not about to open one to check.

On the 2nd February 2012, exactly sixty years after the whisky was distilled, the instruction was given to empty cask number 465 and bottle its precious contents. You know you really should stand up and salute something as momentous as that.

Presented in a uniquely numbered crystal decanter adorned with a diamond-shaped stopper, Glen Grant 60 Queen Elizabeth II Whisky is a highly decadent tipple with which to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. Even the box is handmade using Scottish Elm and lined with purple Harris Tweed. Now all you need is a spare £8000. Actually, call it £7995. Well, it is for Queen and country after all. Nose: Rich malt, an apple-y freshness which belies its age. A good hit of really decent honey is followed on the tail by cinnamon and allspice
Palate: Initially slightly mineralic – reminiscent of a well-aged Riesling, as the honey from the nose powers through again. The freshness from the nose is still here – an absolutely magnificently juicy dram. Freshly-picked cherries join the apple, but there’s no hint of them having been stewed, these are fresh as a daisy
