Star Wars Vintage Vehicles (Tauntaun and Landspeeder)

Back in the late 70s and early 80s Star Wars mania was at its peak. And Kenner stood atop that peak as purveyors of the finest Star Wars related toys in the galaxy. But with so many cool action figures to choose from it’s easy to forget about things like Landspeeders and Tauntauns. So allow us to refresh your memory with a couple of fantastic Star Wars Vintage Vehicles.

Already in seriously short supply, these awesome re-issues are packaged in vintage-style Kenner boxes adorned with memory-jogging photos. But we’ll assume you’re going to open them up once you’ve quit gawping, so here’s the skinny on what’s inside:

Tauntaun
Based on the omnivorous reptomammals used by the Rebel Alliance on Hoth, this incredibly detailed figure features articulated front and hind legs, a saddle with various accessories and a smart transparent display stand. No, you can’t slit open its stomach and squeeze your Luke action figure inside but you can still enjoy endless hours of fun re-enacting scenes from Empire. ‘And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!’

Landspeeder
One of the coolest ways to travel across the Jundland Wastes of Tatooine, Luke’s Landspeeder is gorgeously detailed, with signs of wear and tear, blast damage, exposed engine pods and more. It even comes with a rifle that can be clipped onto the side of the cockpit. True, it doesn’t come with an antigravity system but at least its wheels are transparent. ‘Ever since the XP-38 came out, they just aren't in demand.’

Ideal for any Star Wars fan keen to expand their collection, Star Wars Vintage Vehicles are the only way to travel if you’ve got a few action figures. And before you write in, yes we know Tauntauns are not exactly ‘vehicles’ but you try getting about on Hoth without one. ‘Echo Base, this is Rogue Two. I found them. Repeat, I found them.’
