Once private air travel was the exclusive preserve of the rich and famous. Sadly, it still is, unless you happen to have the lion's share of half a million lying dormant in your bank account. The Skycar, though, has whipped the Firebox team into a collective frenzy with its vertical take off capability and vaguely enticing 380Mph top speed.

Unlike previous prototype Skycars, the M400 can comfortably seat four people, making a day trip to the south of France with your mates the equivalent of a two-hour blast down the motorway. That's when it goes on sale, of course, which isn't just yet.

Press Reviews...

press review "Wary as any test pilot taking up an experimental craft, the man in the fireproof blue suit kissed his wife before climbing into the cockpit. One by one he started the eight rotary engines, then pushed a small red throttle with his left-hand and a joystick with his right. With that, engines whining, the flying saucer rose 40 feet into the air. He took his volantor on a 150 second spin in Davis."
People magazine - Aug '02
press review "One immediate advantage would be safety. The (Skycar) engines have so few moving parts that they should require a fraction of the maintenance of a helicopter. One engine could fail and the Skycar could still hover to a landing. Piloting the Skycar should require less skill than driving a car."
USA Today - Aug '02
press review "Paul Moller has spent 40 years and $50 million building the L.A. commuter's dream car."

visitor avatar Just took delivery of my new baby, and must confess, am revelling in the freedom from those noxious slabs of pork with the speed cameras, radar, and fascist mind-control. The Skycar's a release, and freely available to anyone with a bit a spare change. Why, just a few minutes ago, was sorta hovering nonchalantly in Westminster, when a little old lady inched up next to me in HER new Mollar SuperSkyCar, hunched over the controls, sweat beading from every pore, as she contemplated studiously avoiding parking on my wingtip. However fate is inexorable, and she did. Then she carefully reversed into Big Ben, made a beautifully executed 27-point turn, and headed off toward the palace, gently ricocheting off buildings on her way up, her little "L" plate flapping gracefully with her swerves. Say, do these come with guns and missile options?

visitor avatar If you were on the run from the police and you were in one of those beauties the police would never be able to catch you.

visitor avatar Just bought ours and I must say it beats driving any day. The family and I were scheduled to go on holiday to Spain during June there.... We took our M400 and it saved us a lot of money on flights. It's definitely worth getting. I may purchase several more!
John, Belfast - Aug '07
visitor avatar At work we've got a roof terrace and I've always wondered why. Now I know! If I'm still there when I finally save up enough cash to buy one of these, the roof terrace will become my personal parking lot! When you're saving £25 per week by not paying the congestion charge this thing pays for itself in... hang on... only 249 years.
