Join the digital video revolution and create your own 3 minute movies with the Pocket DV Camcorder.

The abbreviation "DV" in this case stands for "Digital Video", so everything you shoot can be easily downloaded to your PC, edited using the free software provided, then saved for posterity and distributed to all and sundry. Movie-making has never been easier!

The 16MB of onboard SDRAM gives you:
  • 450 still photos in high resolution or 2000 in low resolution
  • 3 minutes of 320x240 video (inc sound), or
  • 30 minutes of pure sound recording!
Pocket DV CamcorderMost great movie-makers started out with short films, and this little beauty will have you up and running and making Oscar award-winning* pieces in minutes. (* Not guaranteed, obviously).

With many Hollywood movies coming in at over two hours these days, the Pocket DV Camcorder is a timely reminder of the art of brevity. Imagine having to condense the best bits of Star Wars, or The Godfather, or even Carry on Camping - into just three minutes. It would be tough, but you know the resulting masterpiece would be pure gold from start to finish.

Pocket DV Camcorder Where the l'espion and Blink capture mere snapshots of time, the Pocket DV Camcorder can record whole videos sequences of your life - ready to be saved, edited and emailed to your mates. The possibilities are, quite literally, endless.

The Pocket DV Camcorder also comes complete with a mini-tripod to help eliminate any "morning-after shakes" from your cinematic efforts. Alternatively you can go commando and achieve that gritty, Blairwitch-esque feel by shooting handheld.

Press Reviews...

press review "Ludicrously cheap minicam, the size of a packet of fags. No tape required - simply record up to three minutes of footage then download ot to a PC. It'll also store hundreds of snapshots, 30 minutes of audio and comes with its own tripod, self-timer and editing software. Possibly the biggest leap in DIY porn since they invented lingerie."
FHM - Dec '02
press review "I think you'll agree it's worth every penny. If you don't agree, then you're just plain wrong."

press review "... a palm-size answer to bulkier camcorders."
The Wall Street Journal - Oct '02
press review "This camcorder costs £80. We'll repeat that: this camcorder costs £80. For this frankly preposterous sum you get a genuine digital camcorder, a mini-tripod stand, and even some decent editing software."

visitor avatar This little gizmo rocks. Got one February past, not good for using at a dim-lit party. otherwise great value. Her Her since it takes so many pics its great for making simple animation. My first was a transformer toy flying about. That was a fun day. Get one of these now - so light you can take it anywhere.

visitor avatar Thankyou so much Firebox! The DV camera is amazing! It's a brilliant bargain now that it's only £40. I was hoping to get the DV2 for Xmas but I got this instead. I don't really care. It won't connect with my computer but that's 'cos my computers an old banger. I give my camera to a friend and he puts them on his computer. Then he gives them to me on a disk. I have made trillions of movies but all of them are pretty bad. My favourite is a quest for the golden pudding. I'm hoping that some time one of my movies will be on Firebox.com. Again, if you've got a spare £40 and you don't know what to do with it BUY THE DV CAMERA! That is an order. Thankyou also to everyone who's got movies up on the internet for they really inspired me. I have also got the L'Espion digital camera and that is cool as well. But please, get this camera!

visitor avatar Just got My Pocket DV camera and have had time for a bit of a play. It is ok. Not earth shattering. You need GOOD light levels to get a crisp image, bright sunlight is best (tungsten lights are hopeless). I would say it is a £40 camera that used to be WAY overpriced, not an £80 camera half price.

visitor avatar Great Cam! As for the Windows Logo Of Approval, get the drivers off the nisis website; that's what I did as I lost my CD the day I got it.
Matthew Redman, W.Yorks - 4th May 2003
visitor avatar Does anyone have any ideas on how to install the actual hardware (camera)? Such a great piece of equipment but whenever I connect to my USB port and the automatic hardware wizard tries to install it, my computer restarts stating a serious error has occurred! Technical support have so far not found an answer!
Star, London - 16th April 2003
visitor avatar This camera is amazing!! I can spy on my street and look for the dodgy dealings. Pierce Brosnan watch your back I am the next James Bond.HAHA
Daniel Newman, PONDERS END - 15th April 2003
visitor avatar I got it today, and you could easily teacher a fish to make a film with one of these. The photos are high quality even on low mode and the videos are superb. I have it running through the p.c now, watching those shifty eyed builders across the road. Takes 10mins to install and you will have loads of fun. Can't wait to duck tape it to the cat...
Craig Taylor, Walsall, West Midlands - 25th March 2003
visitor avatar Classic camera! Great quality stills, funky video and a *seriously* good quality webcam that doesnt even need the batteries in when its plugged into the PC! The tripod is a really nice addition too. All this and its the same price as the blink was when i bought it. Even if ur looking for a pocket stills camera u should get this one and take advantage of the video ability as well. Now I'm saving for the DV2! The only complaint is that there was only two packets of sweets in the box!

visitor avatar I bought this dv camcorder for my boyfriend for his birthday, wot a surprise he got when he opened his present! His face was a picture! He got maximim pleasure with minimum pain on my bank balance! total bargain!
Emily, Stroud, Gloucestershire - 13th March 2003
visitor avatar This is a fantastic product and such a bargain for 40 quid. Delivery is FASSSSSSST. If you are thinking of buying this cool camera STOP thinking about it and do it you wont regret it!! At first had a prob finding the drivers so I emailed AIPTEK and they speedily replied with the solution. It Does work with USB 2.0 Here is how.......
Installing the PocketDV on Windows XP using USB 2.0 Do not connect the camera to USB before installing the Camera Manager 1. Install the Camera Manager from the application CD 2. During the installation you will receive the warning "This software did not pass the Windows Logo Test..." three times. Press "continue anyway" to continue the installation. 3. When prompted to do so, press "Finish" 4. Connect the camera to a free USB port at the rear of the computer. Do not connect to front USB Ports or to USB Hubs. 5. The camera should automatically switch on. If the camera doesn't automatically switch on, STOP!!! It is useless to continue. Either the camera is defect or the USB ports are not supplying enough power. 6. Windows will recognise new hardware. Please note that there are a total of three new components that will be installed and a message "New Hardware found" will appear for each component. 7. The Windows Driver Wizard will appear. Choose "Software from a list or certain source..." and press "Continue" 8. Select "Browse following Source" and press "Browse" which is located next to the long white box. 9. Click on "WINDOWS \ SETUP500" then "OK". You will see in the long white box the following: C:\WINDOWS\setup500 10. Click on "Next" and then drivers will then install. 11. Click on "Finish". 12. Follow steps 7-11 to install the second and third message "New Hardware Found" 13. Upon completion of the third component, you will receive a fouth message "The Harware has been installed and can now be used" 14. Click on the Digital Camera Manager located on your desktop to download images from the camera. As easy as that !!!!
