Fine tune to suit your riding style

When it comes to skateboarding, don’t believe all those balding trendies when they reminisce about 360-ing on fancy Kryptonic-clad custom decks back in the 70s. The truth is most of ‘em hit the pavement (literally and metaphorically) on Penny Skateboards. Confused? You won’t be because thanks to Firebox these best-selling boards are back to thrill a whole new generation.

Built in Australia, each gloriously colourful re-issue features a 57cm x 15cm injection-moulded plastic deck, ultra smooth ‘well’ wheels and high quality trucks with super soft bushings and nickel-plated nuts and bolts. Cool? Pick up a Penny and it’s like the last thirty years never happened.

High quality trucks and bearings
with "Super Soft" 90A bushings

Whether you’re an experienced skater, a total beginner or an old fogey attempting to relive your youth, the Penny Skateboard is just the ticket. If you happen to be the latter we guarantee the memories will come flooding back the second you plonk your foot on that waffled deck: 360s, grabs, tic-tacs, daffies – and those were just the tricks you did in the kitchen when mum wasn’t looking.

Okay, so we wouldn’t recommend screaming down a half-pipe on a Penny, but when it comes to cruising around the park, pulling off freestyle stunts or even rediscovering skateboarding 30 years down the line, this classic board is perfect. You can even complete the whole 70s vibe and make a total Tony Alva of yourself (kids get Googling) with some denim shorts, tube socks and a straggly mane. What’s that? You already have? Bravo, or, as they used to say back in the 70s, totally radical, man!

Visitor Reviews...

visitor avatar Got one of these for Christmas, and was brilliant for riding around on flat ground, but I felt it didn't have enough stability for going down hills. Personally, I prefer the Stereo Vinyl cruiser, because it comes with better bearings and and wheels. My Penny came with Abec 3 bearings, and the Stereo with Abec 7.

visitor avatar Had one of these for about 2weeks now and its perfect for the morning commute to my 6form college and around the building. I was at first a bit nervous of the board-to-foot ratio but once it came I was quite shocked at how easy it was to ride with size 10 feet, and how maneuverable it is (probably a 1. 5m diameter to turn it 360degrees - Fab for rolling into lesson or your office on). I wouldn't recommend this for bombing any hills but it is definitely worth the buy if you are looking for something, zippy, maneuverable and lightweight.

visitor avatar Are they better than buying a long board?. Im thinking of using it on the way home from school lots of tight turns.
Bob, Leicster - 29th October 2011
Firebox says: The Penny board is a great carver, so will probably have a shorter turning circle than your average longboard.
visitor avatar Any chance you could let me know what abec bearings these come with?
Edd Yeo, Tamworth, Midlands - 29th October 2011
Firebox says: Hi Edd!, I would of thought they would be around ABEC 9 quality. Certainly good enough to shred your nostalgic heart away!
visitor avatar Is it good for cruising? Also can it take tight corners because I have a great cruising longboard but it can only take wide corners and I wondered if the smaller the board the tighter the corners thanks :).

Firebox says: Hi, our resident skateboard expert has said that "it's pretty nimble". You should be able to cruise away to your heart's content.
visitor avatar I'm so tempted to get one, just £10 away now, but is the transparent one transparent enough to see the ground racing away beneath you're feet? :).
Anonymous, UK - 27th August 2011
visitor avatar Are you the only supplier in the UK ?
Jeff, New Port - 26th July 2011
visitor avatar Why do we have to wait so long for them ? And will there be anymore colour combinations ??
George, Kent - 23rd July 2011
Firebox says: Sorry for the wait George, those are all the combos we've got so far.
visitor avatar Is it the size of a longboard?
Gwenllian, Wales - 6th June 2011
Firebox says: 57cm x 15cm - not longboard size.
