This British-designed innovation is about the size of a computer mouse and turns any hard surface into a speaker. Plug it into your music device, stick the sucker to a door, window or desk, hit play and prepare to be amazed when your surface of choice starts singing back at you. If you stick it to a window or door and then go outside the sound is equally as good on the other side. Its not going to burst your eardrums or throw out a dirty pumping bass, but considering its diminutive size it’s certainly enough to keep you entertained if you’re on the move. Ideal for the nomad who likes to travel light - stick it to your hotel room mirror, window or closet door to enjoy your tunes.

Soundbug
Now for the scientific part - the main component of the Soundbug is a tiny piece of a material called Terfenol-D, which was originally used by the US Navy for sonar work. The Terfenol is placed within an aluminum case and a coil is wrapped around it. When electricity passes through the coil the Terfenol expands slightly creating a massive force of 400 pounds - when it’s attached to a flat surface it transmits electronic signals into mechanical energy causing the flat surface to vibrate and broadcast the sound.
If that's not enough to whet your appetite it’s even got a cool energy-saving feature which turns it off whenever the music stops so it won't chew up your batteries.

press review "The soundbug is a fantastic portable speaker without the speaker, and it really works a top dream treat especially on glass or something thick like a polished table top. It even has a battery saving feature so when there's no sound playing, it turns itself off. OK, it's gimmicky, but it'll get people talking and it offers remarkably good sound quality from something as mundane as a picture frame."

visitor avatar This is one of the most used products I have ever bought. Goodbye, old shower radio... As I now have my own play lists on my MP3/4 player... and am using the Soundbug to play the music through the wall into my bathroom. A highly recommended product, the only thing is... the suction cup isn't that good... so use a clamp to clamp it to the thing you want to turn into a speaker.
Chris, Scotland - Oct '07
visitor avatar I ordered these, and holy hell, I'm happy with them. Excellent quality! I can go anywhere in my house and still hear the music. I dont think you could buy anything better. Once you go SoundBug, you wont want anything else. Great buy.

visitor avatar This device is truly amazing, I've stuck it to my granite kitchen top and it works perfectly. If you want to beat those hoodies on the train, then bring this out and play some slayer etc.

visitor avatar Forget using this as a travel device(which it is amazing at) but where I found this device improved my life was in the shower becasue the sound is equaly as good on the inside or out than ur expensive mp3 player can stay out side in the dry while u hear amazing quialty inside.
Simon James, Somerset - Jul '06
visitor avatar Very good. The sound quality can be poor if you put it on some things, I've found saucepans work well.
Joe, Lectershire - Mar '06
visitor avatar I bought this after seeing it on Gadgets Gadgets Gadgets. I was amazed with the quality and loudness of the sound it's brilliant and is no more expensive than conventional mini-speakers.
Josh Woodall, Nafferton - Mar '06
visitor avatar I bought this as a birthday present for my brother and we both spent a happy half-hour attaching it to everything in his kitchen! Fantastic. To the person who complained that the sound is only as good as the headphones of someone next to you, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! This happened to us at first, until we worked out how to lock the Soundbug to the surface of our choice. Believe me - when you get it right, you'll hear the difference. We found that the best results came from the kitchen door (a nasty hollow 70s fake-wood type thing), the hot water on demand heater, and a square vase of flowers (full). Hours and hours of fun. My brother now has plans to sneak the Soundbug into friends' houses and freak them out by having their doors, windows and appliances suddenly burst into song....
