Close up of glass surface

The surface is just pure glass

When hustlers in the distant future fancy a few frames, they won’t be racking up on some baize-covered antique made from wood and slate. No, they’ll probably knock their balls about on something resembling the truly stunning G-1 Glass Pool Table.

The ultimate in ball-pocketing show-offery, this astonishing slice of ultra-modern design will completely redefine your perception of pool, without changing the gameplay one iota. Built to order by our Antipodean friends at Nottage Design, the award-winning G-1 employs patented technology to maximise your pool-shooting pleasure.

We’re talking premium quality 15mm Monolithic Float glass with exposed polished edges, a lightweight skeletal frame with fully-visible ball-return mechanism, BCA-spec pockets and K-66 bumpers. No, we’re not entirely sure what all that means but the G-1 looks awesome and plays like a dream. It even comes in a custom range of powder-coated colours.

Glass Pool Table in a penthouse room

Perfect for your penthouse!

By now you’re probably wondering how a glass surface can possibly replicate the rolling resistance of baize. Put simply it can’t. That’s why the G-1’s toughened glass is topped with a patented Vitrik playing surface.

Close up of the balls

Serious ball action!

This hard wearing material plays like an average speed cloth, allowing spin to be applied and retaining consistent roll characteristics over its lifetime. You’ll never know the difference – unless an opponent clambers under the table, drops their troos and pulls a face when you’re attempting to sink the 8 ball.

Needless to say a table this radical doesn’t come cheap, so thank goodness Nottage have seen fit to throw in balls, a triangle, aluminium cues and a bridge stick. Then again, if you’ve got a stylish enough pad to accommodate a G-1, money should be the last thing on your mind. So what are you waiting for? 50p stake, winner stays on. Your break…

visitor avatar If you drop it of a tall building will the glass smash ?
Gary Hoynes, Dalry, Scotland - 18th January 2012
Firebox says: Hey Gary, though the glass of the G-1 Pool Table is, regrettably it will not survive the fall and could only spell bad news for any unwitting pedestrians.
visitor avatar Bought it and it is brilliant, have a right laugh when everyone comes over.
FA, England - 16th January 2012
visitor avatar Has anyone ever brought one?
Dan, - 13th November 2011
Firebox says: Yes! and you can as well if you like!
visitor avatar Dear firebox how easy is it for the glass to break?
Kieran Caig, Dalry,Ayrshire,Scotland - 27th July 2011
Firebox says: It's specially designed Kieran, so it would be 'very' difficult to break.
visitor avatar I don't think having a glass pool table is a good idea.
Robert Brookes, Horncastle - 8th June 2011
Firebox says: It's specially designed pool-table glass Robert, so no worries here.
visitor avatar Question. what about scuff marks just like the ones you get on a normal table where some one hits the cloth will this damage the surface and all the pounding from the jump shots must wear the vitrik surface down. What do you do then smash it up ,throw it away? What about getting it resurfaced like you would a normal table? £34, 999 seems way to much for what would become a large glass coffee table?
Craig, Scotland - 14th May 2011
Firebox says: Vitrik is very hard wearing, and it would take much more than some poor shots (as are often evident in Firebox HQ) to cause that amount of damage.
visitor avatar Dear Santa, I know it's been a while but I just started believing in the unbelievable again, dreams do come true, at least partially. Could you kindly finish those dreams for me? Thank you. See you Christmas, I'm a very good boy I promise.
Loki, Bridlington - 23rd April 2011
visitor avatar Ok so I brought this and my cat jumped on it and the glass chipped- should I call autoglass repair autoglass replace? will the costs be covered by you?
Harry, Birmingham - 13th April 2011
visitor avatar Would this double up as an airhockey table? :P.
Myles, Hertfordsire - 6th April 2011
visitor avatar What about grubby fingers, that's a lot of cleaning after every game.
