The Boxee Box by D-Link (or to use its full title, the D-Link Boxee Box DSM-380 Wireless HD Media Player) is the perfect way to bundle all of your entertainment sources into one place. Using free open-source software this nifty little box will seamlessly integrate content from the internet or your home computer’s hard drive with your TV. Play back all of your favourite Youtube clips, or browse through your stored photos or home movies from the comfort of your couch!
It even delivers a generous dollop of social content by letting you share what you’re watching with friends on D-Link Boxee, Twitter and Facebook. What’s more, through the Boxee you’ll be granted unfettered access to an enormous continually-updated online library, featuring amongst other things: university courses, panel discussions, academic lectures, presentations, web-only videos, FORA.tv, Kid Mango, Next New Networks and more. If this isn’t enough to keep you occupied, you can also add your own entertainment links with simple RSS or XML feeds. Users can also access great music sites like last.fm, shoutcast, and We are Hunted to keep absolutely up to date with the latest warblings.
Watching clips of people falling into fountains is one thing, but what about proper TV shows? With access to the likes of Acetrax, Mediafly, BBC iPlayer and 4OD you'll be able to catch up or stream your favourite TV content whenever it suits you. Play, pause, fast forward or rewind whatever you're watching to make the very most of your free time (and skip the annoying ads).
Is it snowing where your eyebrows are? Well in case they’ve not been raised high enough already, we haven’t mentioned the Boxee’s cool styling. This incredibly tasty technical marvel looks like it’s even learned how to defy physics, as its back corner disappears into the table. This is by far the funkiest multifunction home entertainment box we have ever seen.

I bought the Boxee Box a few months ago and I was not dissapointed. I must admit I don't use it a lot for the "on-demand" content (there does seem to be a lot of TV shows available) but I do use it for Youtube, iplayer and 4od. The Boxee comes into it's own however if you have a lot of your own files. I have a network attached hard drive with a bunch of movies and tv shows on, and the Boxee plays them all perfectly. It also categorises them and gives you DVD cover art automaticly. I couldn't live without it now!Iain, Ashford, Middlesex - 13th November 2011
Firebox says: Thats great news Iain, I am glad to hear you are loving it! Go Boxee!
Shouldn't you mention that most of the online TV 'content' you refer to above can't be watched outside of the US?Stephen, UK - 1st May 2011
Firebox says: You're right Stephen, because of licensing restrictions, some online content is geo-blocked.
I got bought this for my birthday, and what can I say. How about just use HDMI cable from laptop straight to TV? I returned it and I never looked back. Boxee Box, more like waste of money box.Olly, Brighton - 10th March 2011
Is it just me or does anybody else lose faith in companies that go to the trouble of producing ads that they hope will go viral and then don't even bother getting someone to do a spell check on text used? An exited customer?? Or is that excited?Steve Mc, Jersey - 7th March 2011
Firebox says: Oops, well spotted. We've let our supplier know about the error.
