description

Guitar picks have been made from all sorts of things in the past - bone, shell, wood, metal, amber, ivory and even stone. Now you can add your old credit card to this list, with the Pickmaster Plectrum Punch v2.0.

Working in much the same way as a standard hole punch and around the same size, this clever device will punch a guitar pick out of any plastic sheet - bank cards, gift cards, carton lids, in fact any thin plastic that you can find. The new and improved design requires even less effort to punch out a plectrum and includes a very handy sanding plate to smooth any rough edges and create the perfect punched pick.

I bought this a while ago. Now no plastic is safe. I'm completely obsessed. I actually lied to my girlfriend the other day when she asked if I was making more of those bleeding (not her actual word) plectrums again. I am genuinely tempted to add this to my list of things that are awesome, alongside Jackie Chan, Batman, Dinosaurs, and Liam Neeson's phone conversation from Taken. I was going to include a list of potential victims of the pickmaster but it was too long and I only had 800 characters. Instead I decided it would be quicker and easier to make a list of things that CAN'T be made into plectrums. So far I've got: Plastic milk bottles, Round things, My sister.

Love it :) got it for christmas, I don't understand why it has so many bad reviews! It clearly says on the packaging it punches plastics up to 1mm thick- so people should probably read the instructions....
Louise, United Kingdom - 12th January 2013
I am really confused by the negative reviews! I received one of these as a gift a while ago and have had no problems with it at all. I managed to make about 50 picks from the packaging alone and have continued to use it on various plastics recommended by friends. I have many friends who play guitar and often design and cut custom made picks for them and I am yet to recieve any complaints. The cuts were pretty clean and I only had to tidy a few picks up. Great idea, one of the best gifts I received.

Really want to buy this as part of my bfs chritmas present wondering if there is anything else he could use bar old bank cards / store cards cheers awesome idea.

Firebox says: Hey Ashleigh, fantastic present idea. If your boyfriend is anything like me, he'll have absolutely loads of unused store cards and voucher cards etc. But if he doesn't, you could always pick up a coloured sheet of plastic from you local hardware store and punch the life out of it!
My daughter is learning the guitar using a plectrum. This gadget is definitely encouraging her to practice more! Very easy to use.

Arrived this morning, great gadget! Already punched 25 new picks! If you punch through CDR's it doubles the amount you get....
