What could be better than your favourite fruit juice? A boozy version of your favourite fruit juice, that’s what. It’s easy with the forehead-slappingly, jaw-droppingly, leg quiveringly, eye-poppingly brilliant DIY Hooch Kit.

As you may have surmised we’re completely blown away by this product because it really does transform fruit juice into booze. And before you ask, no, we haven’t been drinking. Okay, we have but it’s true! Simply decant your favourite juice (we’re loving cranberry or grape) into a large bottle, pour in the magic powder, pop the rubber stopper and airlock in the lid and let the unfathomable wonder of yeasty science work its magic.

The minimum time for fermentation is 48 hours but the longer you leave it to work the more potent your drink will become *they said whilst grinning ear to ear brandishing a pitchfork*. The end product is refreshingly fizzy fruit juice with a maximum alcohol content of 14%. What’s not to love? Down the hatch!

Packaging

Please note:

Brew your alcoholic juice in a plastic bottle
Neck size of the bottle needs to be at least 3.2cm wide (to fit the airlock)
Juice requirements:
- Minimum sugar content 20g
- Not refrigerated
- Not artificially sweetened
- Not unfiltered
- Will be effective on a batch of juice up to 1.8 litres in volume
- For best results use Grape, Cranberry, Pomegranate or any blends thereof by Welch's® or Ocean Spray®

This is amazing! I make a bottle before parties and it always goes down well. It works out about £2 a litre, including juice, which is pretty good considering it tastes so nice! I like to make it in an empty robinsons double concentrate 1. 75l bottle, it holds the perfect amount of juice and the airlock fits perfectly.

Excellent kit, does the job perfectly. I used Asda own brand 1L shelf juices which taste great. 3 to 4 days gets it a bit more alcoholic and sharper. If you are struggling to find bottles that fit, 4 pint plastic milk bottles work a treat. A little tip though, best to buy some baby steriliser (~50p for 1L) and sterilise the bottles/equipment first as milk contains bacteria that may kill off the yeast.

I have made a lovely batch of Cranberry and Raspberry (Ocean Spray) tastes great over Ice and is slightly sparkling. Having filtered mine I can now reseal. The instructions recommend any variety of welchs or Ocean Spray so if there is a flavour you like 'Hooch It'.

Great product. If you cant find a bottle big enough for the bung to go in, just turn the bung upside down and it will fit OVER a normal 2 litre (UK) drinks bottle and seal just as well! The airlock will still fit... Leave somewhere warm for good brewing.

Would this product work with a flattened soft drink. I'm thinking as in taking the gases out of say Dr Pepper before adding this?

Does this just speed up the effect of juice going bad? What's the difference between this and just letting apple juice stand for 3 weeks. . Isn't it the same effect?
