Bake a Brick

Mmm... Brick.

Victoria sponge. Chelsea bun. Cherry bakewell. Tiramisu. Cakes come in all shapes and sizes and a surprising amount of them sound like female secret agents. Sadly, there are precious few manly-sounding cakes out there to redress this balance (except perhaps Battenberg). Which is why we were so pleased to find Bake a Brick.

Whether it’s plain vanilla or a funky marble mix, this easy-to-use silicone mould lets you bake a magnificent no frills brick-shaped sponge. Perfect for sweetening up the man (or woman) in your life who doesn’t go in for all that fancy nonsense. Raspberry pavlova. There’s another one.

visitor avatar Will it work with jelly?
Ricky Smith, Bedford - 12th November 2011
Firebox says: We like your out-of-the-box thinking, Ricky. It should work fine with jelly. Now let's go to Oz -- follow the Jell-o Brick Road!
visitor avatar Sorry to be slightly sensible, but having bought one of these and used it, you need to be careful of your cake mix - if it is too heavy, the sides of the mould bend out and you have a dodgy looking brick. And your house falls down.
Wilf, In A Cake House - 14th September 2011
Firebox says: Good advice Wilf!
visitor avatar My cake house has a nice review. But don't wipe your feet on the doormat. It is candy floss.
Wilf, In A Cake House - 6th June 2011

Dolly's review isn't a review neither is Suzanna's review nor is your review. My review isn't a review but if I were to review YOUR review about her review about her review, guess what I'd do?! REVIEW.
