QED uPlay Puck

Stream tunes wirelessly to your hi-fi

Chances are all you gadgeteers own at least one Bluetooth-enabled device packed with music, whether it’s an iPhone, PDA, laptop, A2DP/apt-X enabled mobile phone or whatever. You’ve probably got a decent hi-fi too. So why not merge the two with the QED uPlay Puck Bluetooth Receiver.

This ingenious gizmo wirelessly sucks the tunes from portable gadgets into your hi-fi or any other device with a stereo or line input. Cool, eh! Simply plug it into your hi-fi, pair with your Bluetooth-friendly gizmo and you’re done. Thanks to a 10 metre range you can then loaf on the sofa, gizmo in hand, remotely controlling the music bellowing out of your stereo. It’s easier than dissing Justin Bieber.

How to setup:
QED uPlay Puck

1. Plug in the uPlay to the mains

2. Sync with upto 4 bluetooth devices

3. Connect the uPlay to your hi-fi

QED uPlay Puck

Talking of Justin Bieber you needn’t worry about subjecting your lugholes to rubbish quality music because the uPlay uses the very latest apt-X audio encoding technology to whoosh your tunes through the ether without any loss of clarity. So what are you waiting for? Stop dreaming and start streaming!

visitor avatar Great device if I could get it to stay connected to my Macbook Pro! It worked straight out the box the first day I got it, but since then I just can't connect them, they are paired bot not connected!!
Joey Dicker, United Kingdom - 20th November 2011
Firebox says: Oh Dear! Feel free to drop us a line on info@firebox.com and we can see if we can help!
visitor avatar Hi, does it works with the iPad 2? Thanks!
Marc, Canada - 1st April 2011
Firebox says: Surely does Marc.
visitor avatar Works great this gadget is genuinely ace (and you can use in car if you want but you have to use power from the lighter which is easy enough). Mine is in the kitchen and going to get another for the living room but don't know whether the transmitters will conflict with each other? Any ideas? Which kind of brings me to the main downside - danger of bankrupting myself on various transmitters.
Rupert, Brighton - 5th March 2011
Firebox says: We've been assured there is no problem with cross over, due to the pairing of the gadgets.
visitor avatar Note: the Bluetooth master device will have to support apt-X if you want lossless audio. If the master doesn't, then the device will revert to *normal* A2DP Bluetooth... which to be fair is pretty good anyway.
Marcus Greenhill, Sutton Coldfield - 27th February 2011
visitor avatar Can you use this in a car as a device for listening to music?
Brian Loughran, Ireland - 21st December 2010
Firebox says: As long as you have a car power adapter, you should be all set.
visitor avatar Does this change the quality of the original source?
Nic, Buckinhamshire - 7th December 2010
Firebox says: It doesn't.
