Toastabags

Just put the sandwich in...

This is perhaps the crappiest-looking item on our entire site. There is no other way to describe a Toastabag than labelling it a 'thick plastic bag'. That's because it's a thick plastic bag. With little handles, of course - can't forget those.

Toastabags

...put the bag in the toaster!

But hidden behind this trash bag facade is a thermological, nutrition preparation device of truly impressive proportions. For, as its name suggests, the Toastabag allows you to cook things in a toaster. Not in every toaster, just the slotted kind that most people have nowadays. All you do is put the ingredients in the bag, pop it down in the toaster and wait.

Toastabags

Heat up your leftovers in
no time!

Of course, it's more of a heater-upper than a cooker, but after a few attempts we whipped up a perfectly palatable omelette. We didn't get round to doing salmon fillets or chops - the instructions claim you can do both - but a normal can of beans was warmed up thoroughly. Grilled cheese come out nicely too.
It's hot food without the need for a stove, and washes clean with a few swift wipes. If only these things existed when we were at college.

visitor avatar Made eggy bread in my toasta bags this morning, very nice, and not soggy like it is if you fry it. Good for warming cold pizza, and making toasties(!).

visitor avatar Ace product! Cooks toasted sandwiches brilliantly (so long as the cheese isn't too thick). It also comes with about 20 recipe ideas. I would recomend this to everyone. It's so easy to use, and makes quick tasty meals.
Toby Ayre, Berkshire - Apr '05
visitor avatar Great if you have a wheat or gluten issue. My daughter has coeliacs and we can now toast her bread in the toaster!

visitor avatar I bought one of these for my boyfriend - its really great, but I'm getting a little sick of toasted sandwiches. Where are the instructions for making the other stuff like omelettes and bacon that everyone else mentions? My toastabag only came with instructions for toasted sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, and more toasted sandwiches.

visitor avatar I saw this on a TV programme and it does work. He cooked a whole lamb chop in it. Didn't look too nice though.

visitor avatar I want one, now. One question, what is special about a "thick and thin" toaster? I hope it works with mine, the price of a new toaster and this bag is a bit too much.
Tim, London - May '02
visitor avatar My friends told me I was stupid for buying one of these, but every since I did I've enjoyed great food and an even better sex life! So to all you none believers.... screw you buddy!
Julian Curd, Bristol - Nov '01
visitor avatar Excellent for warming last nights pizza! Well worth a purchase.
Big G, West Yorkshire - May '01
visitor avatar One of the handles broke early on, but it still makes great steak sandwiches/scrambled egg possible without a cooker. A must for any student!

visitor avatar 1st try - raw eggs, with pepper and frozen onions, totally brill = omlette. Kept it a just above avg toaster heat setting. Bacon also worked fine. Didn't tell my b/f I toasted bacon, and ate it with the cats. B/f smelt food and launched a kiss ;o( and detected greasy bacon. (Caught out). Handle broke rinsing the bag (maybe weight of water), so I guess wipe clean, or dishwash. Needs oven gloves or or grill handle to remove from toaster. The point is it cooked the ingredients and it tasted good. It'll be handy at work. Not totally a gimmick, actually useful. Im looking forward to experimenting ;o)
