This is a VERY low quality item. It's a clever idea, and the packet of sweets is always a nice touch. However, from the first day brand new out of the box, several segments of one of the LCDs were faded. Over time they continued to fade - less than a month later, the second LCD has completely disappeared (the numbers are still visible if I press the screen). Not only does this spoil the gimmick by making it very difficult to figure out the numbers, but it is now impossible to see the time. All this even though I have only used the alarm twice, as I bought it as a 'backup' alarm clock for those rare times my phone is dead and I can't afford to miss a flight. Don't buy this product if you need something reliable.David, London - 26th October 2011
Firebox says: Hi David, sorry to hear your having problems with the clock. It sounds like you have unfortunately received a faulty item. We would be glad to help. Please contact us on 0800 044 5010 or email info@firebox.com.
Nice little clock, pretty solid, and is more than loud enough to wake me up. The major downside is that it eats batteries: 3 every 3 weeks, which is a little too many for me to keep using it. Nice idea though!Sawyer, Lancashire - 4th April 2011
Bought this alarm clock for my son, and whilst it is an excellent concept, we are on the 4th set of batteries since Christmas!! A brand new set of quality branded batteries lasts less that a week so unfortunately, we cannot afford to run this clock any more! No wonder it is reduced in the sale....Nickki, West Yorkshire - 30th January 2011
Firebox says: Great to hear you like the product, but this issue sounds most odd and we have not heard of this problem with other customers. Please get in contact with us at info@firebox.com and we can help resolve this for you.
I ordered my clock between Christmas and New Year, so didn't expect it for a while due to Bank Holidays - and it was a good job, as I only got it yesterday, though that was more down to Royal Mail than Firebox (calling card, anyone??) Anyway, I really like this clock - it's small and neat, and really different looking to most alarm clocks.
It's easy to use - just twist to the setting you want, set it, and you're away. Hopefully, this will get me out of bed a bit quicker than my radio alarm (which I just listen to in bed, instead of getting up!). Should get the old grey matter off to a flying start, too.
Cheers Firebox - oh, and not forgetting, as usual, had my packet of sweets, too! :o).Cheryl Jones, Newport, South Wales - 16th January 2011
Firebox says: Glad you enjoy it Cheryl, and sorry that the Royal Mail took a while on this, they normally provide a good service.
A great concept for an alarm clock: one that requires you to clear your head enough to solve simple maths problems, hopefully waking you up enough in doing so that you stay awake.
Unfortunately, despite the promise, the application is not great - it feels quite fiddly, and the alarm is nowhere near as loud as I would like, the slow monotone beeps are too quiet for me to trust the alarm if I knew I was at risk of sleeping through my alarm or had an exam the next morning.
And in an alarm clock, the ability to wake you up is ultimately the most important feature.
Also, as a side note, I found the battery socket frustratingly hard to remove.
I will use this alarm clock, but most probably in conjunction with the other, louder alarm I have on my phone.
Score: 6/10.Michael, London - 1st January 2011
