Another Quirky product
Scratch-n-Scroll Mousepad
Why just wiggle all over your mousemat when you can scribble all over it as well? It’s easy with the forehead-slappingly clever Scratch-n-Scroll Mousepad. Yes, we know you can use yellow stickies but they clutter up your work area. Besides, they don’t have the amusing Etch-A-Sketch-ability of this smart mousemat.

Brought to you by the idea-hugging social developers over at Quirky.com, the Scratch-n-Scroll features a Magic Slate-style writing surface that you can doodle on using your finger or the built-in stylus. When you need to erase your notes/musings/numbers/reminders/anatomically extraordinary drawings of the boss, simply flip up the semi-transparent top sheet and presto – the surface is blank.

Ideal for inveterate doodlers, frustrated Matt Groenings and forgetful execs, the Scratch-n-Scroll works in conjunction with any optical/ball-based computer mouse, and features a non-slip back pad so you won’t knock your coffee over next time you’re shading in that sketch of Hitler playing tennis with a fried egg. Gawd, we’re bored.

visitor avatar So far I am satisfied with scratch-n-scroll. Not entirely a new idea! I have a much smaller device where after writing on it with the stylus you simply slide the slider out, then back in again & writing vanishes. I have had this little pad for about thirty years! It still works!

visitor avatar Looks amazing in packaging, however once taken out to use. The mouse does show scratch marks when the mouse is being moved. I wrote some notes on the mousepad, however after using the mouse for 10 minutes the notes disappeared as the mouse has scratched the notes away. Also for £14. 99 it is not very good quality, as soon as it was taken out the packaging (both that was bought) the rubber was very loose and can be peeled off very easily. I love the idea but the product itself is not great for work purposes and its bad quality and not good functionality.

visitor avatar Is it possible to have a picture underneath it?
Alan, UK - 1st January 2011
Firebox says: You could put your own one underneath it (or draw it on!), but it doesn't come with one.
visitor avatar I bought it for my dad for Christmas as he's always writing on bits of paper around the computer area. Bless him he's using it but its not as good as I'd hoped. When the mouse is moved around the mouse mat whatever he's written gets distorted and the writing paper has remained bubbly since he's been using it no matter how many times we try and straighten it out. Now I feel like I've let him down with this Christmas present!

visitor avatar I bought this for my husband as he has to make notes whilst working on the PC, it looked really good in the pictures but the one I got was rubbished, it was like something you buy your kids for 99p, I intend to return it if I can.

visitor avatar Works perfectly fine as a mousemat. When it comes to writing on it, however, the writing doesn't come out very clear and tends to fade over a short period of time. I wouldn't write any important messages on it just in case.
Sarah, York - 27th December 2010
visitor avatar I was just wondering how would your computer mouse not write on the screen of the mousepad?
Angus, Kensington - 28th October 2010
Firebox says: The ball of your mouse doesn't press down hard enough on the mouse pad to create any 'scratches'.
visitor avatar It's more rather than a review but I was just wondering if this product would be suitable for a laser mouse?
Ruu, Edinburgh - 12th July 2010
Firebox says: Sure would!.
