Bad Idea. Power supplies overheat regularly when bunched together. Put them in an enclosed box and you are asking for trouble. The box may be fireproof but the units inside are not. They are designed to be used in a ventilated position like a standard wall socket. SOME types run cool but not all. Laptop supplies in particular get quite hot on their own. Electrical Technician, Coventry - 8th April 2011
Firebox says: We certainly recommend care be taken when combining power sources and cables in an enclosed space.
I have bought one of these (the large one, in black) and it certainly does the job and looks great and very neat.
However, it is vastly overpriced for what it is and, although I will be keeping it, I do think the price will put a lot of people off.Brian, London - 5th April 2011
I'm afraid the price too has put me off what looks like a great idea. I may just resort to using the idea itself and putting some holes in my larger Tupperware!James, Wiltshire - 23rd February 2011
I'd love one of the large ones for work but I can't justify the expense. Such a shame :(.Rachel, London - 16th January 2011
I am interested in the mini version of this, but having looked on the company website, they claim to sell them WITH a 4-socket surge protector of which there is no mention here. I would be much more tempted to buy if the version we could buy in the UK had one of these included in the quite steep price.Iain, UK - 5th January 2011
Firebox says: The US version is sold with a surge protector but this is US only, due to electrical legislation
What happens to performance and reliability of transformers inside given that they kick out quite a bit of heat each? Is there any fire risk by confining said transformers inside? I have a laptop cooler, speakers, two hard drives, phone and of course the laptop that all have transformers and cables that I struggle to keep tidy so this would be ideal. I just need to know the thermal properties of the box!Adam, Essex - 24th November 2010
Firebox says: The box is made of fire retardant plastic, so it's fire resistant!
I'd buy at least 4 of these if they were cheaper (the big ones are the only ones I need to. . ) they are such a good idea but I dont know if many people can justify spending £150 on 3 of these which I imagine the average flat needs at least (if im honest id have even more!).Ali, Nottingham - 8th October 2010
Iv just order the larger white version. I cant wait to get it, I'm about to take delivery of a new desktop computer and this lovely example of good looking simplistic design will help keep all my current and new wires under control, and look good too. And its fire retardant!. It might seem a tad pricey at the moment but considering the shipping, exchange rates and then needing to make a profit over production costs this US based company, and firebox.com are giving you a pretty fair deal. Plus the more popular something becomes the price is likely to come down in the future - give it time. I'm a great believer in getting behind a new product like this one, I would like to see it stick around please. So I think if you're sat staring at the wires under your desk or surrounding your tv or game's consoles and its making you feel a little - bleugh! Treat yourself! I'm sure this product will suit what I need and I have a feeling I will be ordering a few more in the future too.Georgina, Uk - 20th August 2010
I bought one of each size and agree with the comments about price. However, as an engineer, I have an idea of the huge tooling costs involved and the financial gamble to achieve sufficient sales to cover those costs. I am now buying 2 more.Tony Bird, Malta - 20th June 2010
Really good idea, I would seriously love one of these, but far too expensive for what it is! :-(.Sarah, Hertfordshire - 2nd June 2010
