In other words...if I were to put it front of a white wall (4 mts high, 5 mts wide) in a fairly dark room, will it light up the whole wall?Y, Mexico - 3rd November 2011
Firebox says: Hi there, the Frostfire Moonlamp is an LED lamp with an incandescent equivalent of 15W. This means that it can be expected to produce approximately 1000 lumens of output. Spread over an area of 20 square-metres, such as your white wall, this is equivalent to a light intensity of about 50 lux. Since the light is angled upwards, let's assume that only 60% of the light falls upon the wall, that means that the effective light intensity on the wall would be about 30 lux, which is approximately equivalent to the ambient light intensity on a very overcast day, or at sunrise or sunset. Of course, you'd have to consider that the human eye is adapted to detect certain wavelengths of light more easily than other, so that the light may appear to be brighter with, say, a green colour, rather than a blue.
But in conclusion, we think it should probably be able to light up your wall. But we're no physicists here at Firebox, and if anyone spots an error in our calculations, please let us know!
Can you please tell me what´s the range of this lamp? Thank you!Y, Mexico - 27th October 2011
Firebox says: Hi there, we're not sure exactly what you mean by 'the range of the lamp'. Of course the distance that the lamp projects to will depend on the relative darkness of the surrounding environment.
I can give you the specifications of the lamp though if this helps you: the bulbs are each 9W and the incandescent equivalent is 15W. The light is specifically designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
I hope this helps!
How long does this thing last on one set of batteries?Virginia, Seychelles - 11th June 2011
Firebox says: It would really depend on how frequently you used it Virginia, but a good long time.
One of those things that you love to have once you have it but probably wouldn't buy for yourself. I bought this as a gift after being asked to for a bog standard uplighter lamp (borrring!). It really does help a room take on whatever mood you so desire it to and the disco mode adds a truly funky vibe to any house party. Definitely recommended if you like to live you life in technicolor.Fireboxer, On The Moon - 24th January 2011
