Holding the Gyro Flyer

Start the chopper up!

Yes, we realise most R/C helicopters are not that easy to fly. Here at Firebox even the most accomplished pilots have come a cropper, smashing headfirst into our Airwolf shrine, lopping off the boss’s top hat and plummeting into piles of discarded choppers that have been stamped upon in fits of frustration.

But all that is about to change thanks to the ridiculously easy-to-fly Gyro Flyer. Unlike flimsy polystyrene rivals, this revolutionary 3-channel R/C chopper boasts a sturdy metal body and advanced gyroscope, giving it staggering in-flight stability. It’s unlike anything else in the skies. Even a complete novice will be buzzing around with the greatest of ease after just a few minutes. Forget all that wild lurching, this is ultra steady and super manoeuvrable straight out the box.

The Gyro Flyer is also the first R/C whirlybird capable of landing wherever you fancy. Yeah, yeah, we know some of you veteran heli-pervs can already pull off pinpoint manoeuvres. But with this baby you can land on the bloke opposite’s mousemat without knocking tea all over his iPhone. Unless you want to. Don’t you just love being in control?

Needless to say, with 3 channels this ludicrously entertaining plaything does all the up/down/left/right/forwards/backwards business you’d expect. visitor avatar Got this as a Christmas present! Looks great but after using the copter for only 20 mins or so. The top rotor spins but not the lower one doesn't !
Adam, High Wycombe - 28th December 2011
Firebox says: Oh dear Adam, give us a shout on info@firebox.com and we can see what we can do!
visitor avatar I bought all my Christmas gifts from firebox this year and supprised all the family with loads of really cool presents!! I bought Gyro Flyer helicopter for myself and was delighted with it at first. But then I was very dissappointed when the forward/backwards rotar stopped working; just after its 2nd flight even though its not damaged. Now it won't move in the air anymore :(.
Diarmuid O Brien, Republic Of Ireland - 27th December 2011
Firebox says: Oh Dear! thats not good to hear! Drop us a line on info@firebox.com and we can see what we can do!
visitor avatar CONS: Considerably more expensive than its rivals. flying time seems like an instant due to 2 reasons: 1) The bright, awesome LED lights make it look awesome but reduce batter life quite a bit. 2) It's soo much fun, the time just passes in an instant! Spring attached to throttle, so you have to hold it unlike normal RC heli controllers PROS: Very durable due to metal body. I can kick it int he air and it survives! Easy Controlls Gyro stabilised + easy trim settings USB recharging to save you money on batteries or time on rechargeable AA ones. Right speed for easy indoor flight. Can easily recover from its sides. Just give it some power and the blades flip the heli over, ready to fly again! Can use as a fan in summer :D.
Felix, Haywards Heath - 25th September 2011
Firebox says: Thanks for the excellent review Felix!
visitor avatar I need help, 1 top rotor does not work... I don't know what to do... please comment and help me soon. It flew for 1 day but now has stopped.
Conor, Huddersfield - 22nd September 2011
Firebox says: Hi Conor. That doesn't sound right! Please send us an email to info@firebox.com or call us on 0800 044 5010 and provide us with as many details about your order as possible. We will be more than happy to help.
visitor avatar I hope this has 4 channels of movement, because I paid 30 quid on this heli. I can get a 3 channel one for 17 pounds. Please tell me this helicopter can also rotate along with go forward and back, left and right, up and down!!
Felix, Haywards Heath - 18th September 2011
Firebox says: Sorry Felix as stated in the copy this is a 3 Channel Gyro, but is good quality. If you would like to return it you are welcome to get in touch on info@firebox.com
visitor avatar This helicopter is AMAZING!!!! It's so easy to control! It's not too good out doors though... But I have one question: My helicopter was flying perfectly then suddenly there was a screeching noise... The helicopter spun out of control to the ground.... I have narrowed it down to the top set of blades... I think the drive rod is bent but I don't really know... Any assistance would be highly appreciated!! I'm disappointed I can't fly it now... Please help!!
Dylan, Millport, Scotland - 12th September 2011
Firebox says: Please drop us an email with your order details Dylan, we'll look into it! (info@firebox.com)
visitor avatar Have just been reading the reviews and spotted the one posted by David Vernon, Leeds - 19th July 2011. I have the same problem after using the copter for only 20 mins or so. The top rotor spins but not the lower one. Looking through the side of the cockpit it appears that the gears don't line up for the drive to the bottom rotor. Could these have come from a faulty batch. Answers please from Firebox....
Geof, Hampton Hill - 20th July 2011
Firebox says: It's possible Geof, although we generally would expect many, many more issues with a batchwide issue. With that said, please drop us an email with your order details (info@firebox.com) and we can look into it for you.
visitor avatar It is great fun to fly, very steady also which was surprising and provided lots of fun! The lights are a nice touch and it's certainly a sturdy little helicopter. Unfortunately only had mine a week and one of the rotors has stopped moving, even though no damage to them, which means my helicopter now just spins round in a circle and doesn't get off the ground with just the top rotor working. Very unfortunate, but if you get one that works I'm sure it would continue to be fun and a good buy.
David Vernon, Leeds - 19th July 2011
Firebox says: Drop us an email David with your order number and we'll look into this for you.
visitor avatar Just received my aircraft as a birthday gift and I am getting to grips with the flight controls. I have a question for the experts out there. Why does the green LED charge light not come on when charging. This is the first time I have put the copter on charge so I can only guess that it is actually charging. Thanks for any useful answers.
Geof, Hampton Hill - 19th July 2011
visitor avatar I bought this for Father's Day from the kids. The moment Dad opened the box, the absolute excitement on his face was priceless. What an excellent piece of kit. We've been doing stealth landings and having a right scream with it! Unfortunately, the rear rotor stopped working, without having any crashes, which meant it could not go forwards or backwards. Having checked up today, it is on it's way back to me. Much to everyone's delight, we hope to get much more enjoyment out of it. But it does seem fragile, I have made sure there are spare rotors incase we crash into anything. I would recommend this to everyone. Dad is acting like a school boy, says it's his best Father's Day ever. It's the first time I have used FireBox and I certainly will be again, absolute pleasure to do business with.
