Scan your photos or negatives/slides

If you’re out of short pants your shelves are probably heaving with old photos, slides and negatives. Yes, you could get a specialist company to digitise them, but do you really want some snooping lab geek to know you wore a Right Said Fred T-shirt to the sixth form ball? Course not. That’s why you need one of our idiot-proof Photo and Negative Scanners.

These one-touch 5.1MP scanners make digitising precious images a doddle. Simply slip in your photos, negatives or slides and clever electronic tomfoolery will scan and pixellate the trapped images in seconds, leaving you to archive them, burn them to CD, upload them to Facebook or blow them up to cringe at your appalling lack of dress sense. Choose from two versions:

If you can’t be doing with all this computer business, try the standalone Pics 2 SD. As well as doing everything the Pics 2 PC can, this baby will digitise pics on the fly and drop them straight onto any SD card via its built-in slot. No computer required. You can even check out the results on its integrated 3.2-inch colour screen. And if you do decide to USB it into a computer, it doubles up as a handy SD card reader.

Both compact scanners feature auto exposure and colour balance, and boast a high quality optical element, enabling you to see zits and bits in all their digitised glory – and those are just the holiday snaps from the Nineties. Think of all the ancient slides and negatives you haven’t held up to the light for years: nan scoffing Spam sarnies, dad dressed as Sonny Crockett, you playing Swingball in your Dangermouse undies…hang on, best bin that one, eh?

visitor avatar Bought this nearly a year ago, It is fantastic it does exactly what it says on the box. The old picture quality is great, and to be able to find negatives that the original photo's have been lost or damaged and have them like they were taken yesterday! Best buy ever!
Antony Dicks, United Kingdom - 24th October 2011
Firebox says: Hi Anthony, we are glad to hear about your love for the Photo and Negative Scanner
visitor avatar Good device, but could do with additional four position slide holders. Can you advise where to purchase these from in the Midlands, UK. Many thanks.
Tony Aston, Midlands, UK - 20th October 2011
Firebox says: Hello Tony! If you give the suppliers spare parts dept on 01252 896000 they will do their best to help.
visitor avatar I really wonder to buy this device, but just not sure if it can restore at all those old and damaged photos or it just scan them and I have to fix them later at my PC later???
Ivan Jimenez, Colombia - 10th September 2011
Firebox says: It won't restore images itself Ivan, only allow you to get them on to the computer.
visitor avatar Does it work with 110 or 220 volts, or both?. Can you deliver it to Venezuela, an time aprox. ?
J. Rivera, Venezuela - 21st August 2011
Firebox says: It works from the mains, and your computer. We do ship to Venezuela - just select 'Venezuela' as your country on the checkout page and you will be shown the shipping options.
visitor avatar Can you use the SD version with a PC aswell?
Harrison Cassidy, Dorset - 6th February 2011
Firebox says: Yes, you can connect via USB to the PC.
visitor avatar In 1 review you say a device is needed to convert to mac can you tell me what this would be ?
Amanda Wood, Wales - 3rd February 2011
Firebox says: We didn't mean that it converted the device to mac, but that it was stored onto an SD card. If you then plugged this SD card into a mac via a digital camera or card reader you would be able to transfer the data onto your mac using the old click and drag option in theory.
visitor avatar Best scanner ever.
Matthew Smith, Elgin - 23rd January 2011
visitor avatar Would the pics 2 SD scanner be compatible with an SDHC card or just SD cards?
Hayley Thomas, Wales - 4th January 2011
Firebox says: SDHC would also work fine.
visitor avatar You'll see from my question that I'm not gifted technologically - it says the Pics 2 PC is not Mac compatible, but does that mean the Pics 2 SD can be?
Madeleine, London - 31st December 2010
Firebox says: Well in theory yes! Since the data i being stored directly onto a memory card, you can technically transfer this data at a later stage to your mac, although you would need a device that was mac compatible to transfer the information on.
visitor avatar I got this today, I opened it up and tested it, and then realized they had sent me the wrong one. I got the Pic2PC version instead of Pic2SD. I am amazed that the other reviews say that this gives good quality pictures, as the few pictures I scanned (paper) turned out really bad. It crops the pictures so you loose allot of the sides, the colours are all wrong and the details get all blurry. I don’t think this is a scanner at all, but in fact a camera. The negative tray is very hard to use, and the bars between the “frames” get in the way of the actual picture because it does not line up with the holes on the negatives. I received the wrong product, and Firebox sorted that out for me immediately. I will look for a different scanner in the future. Great customer service from Firebox though :).
