Addictaball
A handheld game devoid of circuitry, sound effects and flashing lights? Here at Firebox, home of high tech gadgetry? Well yes, because despite its low tech spec, Addictaball is the most unputdownable puzzley thing we’ve ever seen.

The concept is simple verging on downright childish, as players must twist, turn and tilt this funky transparent orb in order to guide a little metal ball through the crazy three-dimensional maze of platforms, holes and spirals suspended within.

Amazing close up!

It sounds simple but you’ll be hopelessly hooked after just one go. In fact Addictaball makes playing with conventional brainteasers seem about as entertaining as trying to find one of Susan Boyle’s eyebrows in a binful of Pete Doherty’s chewed toenail clippings. Oh yes, and if big balls aren’t your thing, fear not – there’s also a smaller travel version featuring an equally annoying but subtly different maze.

Maze 2 - Small:

Looks a bit like Mario Galaxy

13cm diameter

Small but complicated!

If all this sounds like a load of oblique spheroids, it is. But try thinking of a decent game that doesn’t involve at least one ball. Besides, it takes serious hand-eye co-ordination to steer your ball through Addictaball’s handily numbered sections (138 sections for the large, 100 for the small). We guarantee you’ll be cursing this unputdownable sphere’s devious nature and pulling faces worthy of a champion gurner in under a minute.

If its popularity here at Firebox HQ is anything to go by, this innocuous ball of fun is going to be the sleeper smash of the season. Like the song (almost) says, ‘Some balls are held for charity and some for fancy dress, but when they’re held for puzzling they’re the balls that I like best.’ Hear hear!

Me attempting the Addictaball. See my youtube channel (youtube.com/answermachine) for the full fat funnier version, as I had to shorten it to fit under the 20Mb limit.

Press Reviews...

press review It is, as the name suggests, quite addictive. For the price and hours of fun, it's well worth the money.
How it Works - Apr '10
press review "Need something to take your mind off stress at work? Addictaball will grab your attention - and drive you bonkers while you tilt, twist and turn to guide the metal ball round a maze. It's idea for 'downtime' at work!"

visitor avatar Ordered this the other week as a birthday present for my niece but opened it to see what it was all about - haven't stopped playing with it since and have to fight my mother off it as well! will now have to order another one.... .
Michelle Griffin, - 16th January 2012
visitor avatar Found it straightforward until step 50. Can't get past this because there is a problem in the manufacture where the pin attaching one section to another is not in the hole it should be in and you can get the ball past.
Denise, Surrey - 6th January 2012
Firebox says: Hi Denise, drop us an email with your order details and we'll happily get this sorted for you (info@firebox.com).
visitor avatar This game should clearly be renamed.... "For F**k Sake!!" because that's the only words that have been coming out my mouth since I've been playing this!!!! Highly addictive and Highly entertaining! Game consoles are now a thing of the past for me.
Russell, Portsmouth - 28th December 2011
visitor avatar Got one for Christmas... one of the best presents ever! :D And even my parents and grandparents enjoyed trying to complete it. Definitely worth getting one! :D.
Chris, Lancashire - 27th December 2011
visitor avatar Brilliant! I got this for my little brother but I spend more time on it myself. Really addictive. Get one.
Dan, Walsall - 13th December 2011
visitor avatar I was given this as a Christmas present and it is incredibly addictive. However I can't complete the ball because one of the parts have fallen off. Is there any way I can open this and fix it as I need to complete this ball lol.
Megan McAllister, Livingston - 2nd July 2011
Firebox says: We don't know of anyway of opening it Megan, but if you drop us an e-mail to info@firebox.com we can look into it for you.
visitor avatar Such a good gift to buy, very addictive ! but I have to ask... where is 31?! it's driving me and my boyfriend crazy !
Abigail, Wales - 16th April 2011
Firebox says: There are parts of the mazes that have track sections which are too small to print the numbers on so there are no numbers to guide you. This is common from number 30-36 as the ball rolls along a thin track and drops through a hole.
visitor avatar OOOPS! I bought this for a birthday present for my younger brother. Thanks to the highly addicting and frustrating nature of this game he has banned me from the house, but his Partner loves me as it keeps my brother out of her hair for a while :D Well done chaps!
Alex Forty, Worcestershire - 15th March 2011
visitor avatar I got this for Christmas and I love it. I'm half way through the third part and it's annoying me to death. It's great.
Joel O'Mara, Leeds - 15th February 2011
visitor avatar I received this today, just a few days after it was dispatched. After only having it for a few hours, I'm already addicted...and frustrated!!! It's a really good value puzzle, and I'm sure it'll keep me "entertained" for some time to come! I just don't recommend anyone visiting me while I'm doing it, just in case I throw it at them in frustration!!
