ChoroQ Micro Cars and Micro Track

Tamiya Avante

Micro R/C racing cars rule! They can rocket around confined areas, screech across piles of paperwork and career around the kitchen without concussing pusskins. You can even pop them in your pocket if the boss walks in. Yes, racing fans, when it comes to having fun, size does matter!

With this in mind we’ve been searching for some seriously small cars to play with – and here they are in the impossibly cool shape of Micro Desktop Racers. These titchy R/C vehicles are based on iconic Tamiya and Nintendo vehicles, and they’re ideal for conducting thrilling races in really tight spaces. Hey, that rhymes!

Infinitrax Racetrack

Serious toy racers can go the whole (road) hog and zoom around the Infinitrax Racetrack, a modular rubber circuit that allows you to create various tortuous layouts. Simply slot the 14 track sections together and it’s go, go, go! You even get guard rails so you don’t fly into open-mouthed onlookers and a chequered finishing line. Buy the track and cars together or dip your toe into the world of micro racing with the cars alone.

Mario Kart Micro Racers
Bringing the smash hit Nintendo game to life in a way that pixels and bleeps simply can’t compete with, these wacky battery-operated R/C vehicles perform just like their on-screen counterparts, and feature slick tyres for drift and a ‘dash’ button for speed bursts. Available in two frequencies for head-to-head ding-dongs, both Mario and Yoshi come with additional batteries, spare tyres and banana and shell obstacles. The only thing missing is the dodgy team boss telling you to crash on purpose!

Tamiya Classics
Based on Tamiya’s high-performance, build-‘em-yourself R/C classics, these mean-looking rechargeable buggies are available in four frequencies so you can race up to four friends. Thanks to knobbly tyres and working suspension, both the Black Hornet and Avante are capable of negotiating rough and smooth terrain. Best of all, a high speed boost button adds extra oomph when you’re screaming towards the finishing line. To recharge, simply plug ‘em into the fully functioning remote.

Racing on the track

Whether you choose to Mario-it round a rubber circuit or buggy off across a desktop, these diminutive racers are guaranteed to thrill, even when they’re shoved in your pocket. Gentlemen, lay down some rubber and start your engines!
