There’s something unfathomably funny about watching a cat go bananas as it chases a fast moving object. Witness Tom and Jerry. Guaranteed to keep Tiddles (and even Fido) transfixed for hours, this award-winning high-tech device automatically projects random laser patterns around the room. Think of it as a futuristic take on the traditional ball of wool. Pets will be chasing it, pawing it, attacking it and pouncing on it before you can say ‘dignity, what dignity?’ Giving four-legged friends a workout has never been such fun.

Of course the big difference here is that you don’t have to dangle anything around because the stylish, skittle-like FroliCat features an automatic mode. Just place it on a flat surface and it will fire its moggy/doggy-transfixing beam all over the place for 15 minutes before switching off.

If you prefer to torment pusskins in a more hands-on fashion, simply switch to manual mode and create your own laser patterns. You can even adjust FroliCat’s internal mirror so that its beam flits across specific areas. Claw marks on my priceless Chippendale? Not blimmin’ likely!

I was skeptical, a few good and a few bad reviews, so I gave this toy a go. I am so glad I did! My cat has always loved the lazer pen, so I hoped she would pick this up fast. Within seconds of turning it on, she pounced and was obsessed. The unit itself is a little more noisy than expected, but easily ignorable when you have a cat going crazy in the living room. After the auto 15 mins, she was stretched out on the floor exhausted. Win!

This is for our dogs who love it and keeps them amused for a while. Bad news is this thing eats batteries like there's no tomorrow. Expensive duracell batteries will last 3-4 goes, and cheap multipack batteries won't even last a full 15 minute cycle without slowing down and becoming really faint. Mains power option, please?

What is the difference between the DART and the BOLT???

Our cats adore this toy but unfortunately we had a few problems. The first one we got worked fantastically (we were in hysterics watching them chase it) but after about 10 minutes the laser just stopped working. We tried the advice on here but no use. Rang firebox who were happy to send a new one... second one arrived... after a few goes (and cramp from laughing so hard at the cats) we same problem... rather than the hassle of sending one out AGAIN Firebox were fantastic and gave a refund but we are GUTTED we don't have our frolicat anymore! Defo the product problem and not firebox! Worth the money when it works!

I brought this as a Christmas present for a friends cat, the laser seems not to work and then when I called to request a replacement, was advised to "bang frolicat on the table and call back if this doesn't work!" Great, not only did I give a useless gift it seems I will now have the hassle of having to find a replacement present AND attempting to fix the broken goods myself!!!! :(.
