illoom balloons
Brilliant balloons
Aren’t balloons fantastic? You can pop them, ping them, boing them on heads, twist them into silly shapes, use them to joosh up parties and even tie a helium-filled bunch to a chair and take to the skies. In fact the only bummer is that you can’t see ‘em when it’s dark. And that’s where illoom balloons come in.
As the name (sort of) suggests, these inflatable spheres of fun are balloons that light up. How? Well here’s the clever bit: each balloon contains a titchy LED. Simply pull the tab to activate the light, and then blow up the balloon as normal. Brilliant! You can even fill them with helium for fully floating lights.
Ideal for night time soirees, both indoors and outside, illoom balloons (try saying it fast after a few shandies) will add an enchanting glow to parties, weddings and more. And because each balloon glows for 15 hours you can party like it’s 1999. Or something like that.

Okay, so these are probably not what Michael Faraday had in mind when he invented the rubber balloon all those years ago. But then again he probably didn’t foresee a future in which infantile idiots let the air out so as to recreate the sound of someone breaking wind either. Or maybe he did?
At under nine quid for a pack of 15, illoom balloons are a cheap and cheerful way of ramping up the wow factor after dark. You can even release a few into the night sky and put the willies up National Enquirer readers. Best of all, in order to get the best out of illoom balloons you’ll need to dim the lights – and that’s never a bad thing, is it?

Is helium suitable to put in them?Gwenllian, Pembrokeshire - 3rd September 2011
Firebox says: Indeed it is.
Bought these balloons for a party and was very disappointed they only lit up for about 20minutes.Jean Herbison, Northern Ireland - 28th May 2011
Firebox says: Sounds like a faulty bunch Jean, drop us an email via info@firebox.com and we can look to resolve this for you.
Love these balloons, yellow doesn't glow for long but a blue balloon has been glowing for 2 weeks. Well worth the pennys.Donna, Shropshire - 29th April 2011
I got some of these for Christmas - set a white one off on Christmas day and it's still glowing now, in February!Barnaby, Newbury - 30th January 2011
Firebox says: That's impressive!
I bought some balloons for my brother's birthday.
I pulled the tab at night on the 8th November. It is now the 10th of December and my brother popped a balloon. The LED was still glowing. Amazing product.Elena, England - 10th December 2010
Firebox says: Great to hear Elena.
The glow is very feeble - you can perceive them in a dark room, but only just. Think glow-in-the-dark stars rather than torch-in-a-balloon.Richard, Cambridge - 4th December 2010
The illoom balloons are awesome especially when filled with helium. The white ghost balloons were much brighter than the orange pumpkin designs, in fact, apart from in complete darkness you could hardly tell the pumpkins were illuminated at all.
The lights last for AGES. After they had deflated I took one of the white balloons apart, and left the light in my office - it was still glowing 7 days later after it was turned on!
If you ware planning on getting them inflated with helium you need to be aware that because these are normal latex balloons they don't hold helium very well, however most places that fill balloons will have access to a liquid sealant they can put in to make them stay inflated for longer. It works a charm, but they will charge you extra for the sealant.Andy W, Droitwich Spa - 15th November 2010
We bought the Halloween ones, but were not that impressed. The glow lasted well, in fact it's still working now (9th November) but wasn't as bright as expected. (We filled them with helium which leaked quickly).Carole, Abingdon - 9th November 2010
I love these! It says they last for 15 hours, but mine last for 6 days! amazing!Sophie, Doncaster - 4th October 2010
These were brilliant... stayed lit up for a good few days! Very effective indeed, highly recommended.CJ!, Wirral - 28th February 2010
