"Ideal for commuters..."Daily Star - Jan '10
No need for heavy books on this trip, the Cool-er eBook Reader is wafer thin and holds thousands of books. ..will last a lifetime.Woman & Home - Nov '09
..thinner and lighter than, say, Sony's eReader, so you won't experience wrist ache after a reading session. You won't suffer eyestrain either: the LCD screen has a matt finish and so is free from glare. ..The 128MB internal memory is expandable to 1GB - that's a lot of books!PC Answers - Nov '09
"Never lug around heavy books again with this wafer-thin gizmo..."Sport - Aug '09
"A modern take on Instamatics of yore, this camera and inkless printer mash-up will print glossy 7MP snaps in under 40 seconds. This time around you can check and edit your images before pressing Print, which should save you from wasting too many 2x3in stickers."Men's Health - Aug '09
"We're not saying books are dying, but this Cool-Er E-Reader is one of the more convenient gadgets around> Wafer thin, capable of storing up to 800 novels and playing MP3s, the E-Reader's display looks like you're reading on a page. And you can even use it for Sudoku. Just don't try and highlight anything if you're revising, obvs."NME - Aug '09
"With an expandable memory that holds thousands of books and a glare-free 6in display, words can't explain how great the Cool-er eBook Read is."Saturday Express - Aug '09
"As the name suggests, this is the self-styled hipster in the e-reader pack. Super-thin and colourful, it plays MP3s as well as displaying books. The glare-free display looks just like paper and you can even take it on holiday as it's unaffected by sunlight - just don't drop it in the pool."The Independent - Aug '09
"Cool-er describes its e-Book reader as 'the iPod of e-readers". With colours that are highly reminiscent of Apple's nano music players, we can see the connection. The Cool-er reader sports a 6in display and is primed with 1GB of onboard memory - enough for 800 books. Additional sotrage capacity can be added by slotting in an SD card."PC Advisor - Jul '09
“If you want an E-book reader, you are looking at the best of the rest.”T3 - Jul '09
“Whereas Amazon’s Kindle device has the brand reputation, this gadget is like the younger, more hip, sibling.”The Sun - Jul '09
"...the perfect commuting buddy for the average show off."T3 - Jun '09

This looks just like like a 4th gen ipod nano, except for the considerably larger black and white screen, but it plays mp3s! It really is the iPod of eReaders!Paul, Wickford, Essex - Jul '09
I notice you say it is compatible with PC and Mac. What about Linux?John, Bolton - Dec '09
Firebox says: At present COOL-ER does not support file transfer from Linux based computers.
Is the Cool-er ebook back lit to allow bedtime reading, without having the lights on?Bryan Clark, Arbroath, Scotland - Dec '09
Firebox says: I'm afraid not. You would need a lamp on. The Cool-er is designed respond like paper in direct sunlight. It produces no light of its own so it causes no eyestrain by removing the glare often associated with laptop and desktop screens.
Hi, I'm a little confused. Someone asked if you could get ebooks for the COOL-ER from anywhere other than "coolerbooks". You replied that "No, they wouldn't be compatible". But on you're website it says, "Simply download your books from any of the countless online sources floating around in cyberspace". Which is true? Or am I missing something, other than brain cells!.Steve Whitelock, Stewartby, Bedfordshire. - Dec '09
Firebox says: Sorry, we were wrong. You are not restricted to the COOL-ER book site and are free to purchase books from other sources. However, COOL-ER do have over 300,000 titles and offer 25% off books, if you own a COOL-ER.
Question: How many font size options are there, and what are they?Marcelle, Uk - Dec '09
Firebox says: You have a choice of 8 text size options, along with serif or sans-serif fonts, and portrait or landscape settings. This helps to simulate a paper based book while allowing for individual personal preferences. Once you’ve set your favourites, your COOL-ER will remember your settings.
I have on eof these and it's great, I can carry plenty of reading material all the time.
One correction, which Firebox please publish - You CAN purchase books from WHSmith, Waterstones, Borders and any site that sells EPUB format books as the Cool-ER handles them through Adobe Digital Editions.Darren, Romford Essex - Oct '09
What languages does it support?Alex, Great Britain - Oct '09
Firebox says: English, French, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, German and Japanese.
Can you but eBooks from anywhere other than coolerbooks. Com?Jess, Aberdeen - Oct '09
Firebox says: They wouldn't be compatible, no.
Question: can you buy a mains adapter or can you only charge via a PC?Clare, Farnborough - Oct '09
Firebox says: We do not sell one unfortunately, but any USB charger adaptor will do the trick.
Available from all good electrical retailers..and some bad ones too.
How does it handle Colour in PDFs? I'm looking at using this to read OU texts while commuting, and it's likely that there will be colour in there. Obviously it can't show the colour, but does it greyscale, or not show the image, or refuse the document?Dominic, Uxbridge, Middlesex - Oct '09
Firebox says: It'll greyscale any images in the PDF :)
