What exactly is the attraction of sitting on a large, air-filled rubber sac and bouncing away like a baby in one of those strapped-to-a-doorframe contraptions that infants so enjoy? Putting a finger on the exact reason is difficult, but something as fundamental and basic as a go on a space hopper doesn't really stand up to analysis. In essence, it's just a hugely entertaining thing to do.

By far the best way to get full enjoyment from these oversized fun bags is to race them. Happily, for exactly that purpose, the makers fashion their creations in several different colours and emblazon large numbers on the front. Perfect for competition hopping.

Of course, the natural habitat of the Oddball is the common or park, where full entertainment can be gained from its rubbery characteristics and ability to support a human frame. Bringing one of these, instead of a dog-eared tennis ball and bat, to a Sunday afternoon laze-around is guaranteed to make you the talk of the surrounding area. Just mind the nearby picnics during your space hopper steeplechases.

Original Oddballs come blue - (#3). For the professional racer amongst you there's now the new Flaming 8 Ball - which sports a black "8 Ball" design and ships complete with pump and racing flag. Please note that the flames are for illustration only as this product would of course melt at high temperatures.

Please Note:
  • Blue has the number '3' printed on it. The Flaming 8 Ball, strangely enough, has the number '8' on it.
  • They all ship deflated, so you'll have to pump them up with a foot pump, electric pump or compressed air pump.
  • Never inflate past 25 inches/63.5cm.
  • Oddballs are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use as long as you avoid sharp objects.
  • The Flaming 8-ball come with a pump, but the blue do not.
Dimensions:
  • Oddballs measure an average diameter of 24 inches/61cm.

visitor avatar We had two of these and friends had others. We did show jumping and racing. I found that lining them up and doing superman along the top was good until I hit a wall. Also you get complacent about how much abuse you can give them, I was doing massive jumps and landing hard with no impact absorbtion on the legs. This happened until I popped it and made an explosion so loud it caused people in the front garden to spill their drinks (I was round the back!) we had loads of fun, I will be getting another :o) Even if you are not that energetic, they make great garden furniture...

visitor avatar Just had an amazing game of spacehopper football in the park (we used the spacehopper as the ball). We even got it stuck in a tree which I claim as a world's first for a spacehopper!

visitor avatar After having a go on my mate's (previous review), I fell in love with oddballs and bought one of the flaming 8 ball hoppers for myself. I only just got mine and already much fun has been had finding the many ways of enjoying oddballs. Probably the most fun ways of exercising and also thrilling - where else can you see how high you can bounce around without hurting yourself :D There are a lot of spacehoppers out there; but I think these are the coolest around, and most modern with the groovy racing number and grip rings especially for racing. Move over old 1970's spacehoppers! I mean, who wants to be reminded of the time when they were a kid and bounced around in spacehoppers that were barely more sophisticated than sacks?

visitor avatar One of my mates bought three of these and I have to say they're awesome! Three of us had a great aftertoon hopping around and racing each other. We definately hurt though from rolling off of them and making our oddballs fly into each other. There are definately many fun ways of enjoying odballs, and even though I hurt it was great!
