Step 1- attach to luggage

Attach the scales to your luggage

Weighing your luggage using the bathroom scales is about as accurate as measuring your height using the toaster. But seeing as airlines charge passengers for being just a few kilograms overweight, it pays to know the exact weight of your case. So why not tweak the nose of budget airlines and shout ‘up yours!’ to over zealous check-in staff (not literally) with the Balanzza Mini Digital Luggage Scale.

This smart little gizmo weighs bags quickly and accurately. Simply hang your luggage from its sturdy strap and view the weight in pounds or kilograms on its large, easy-to-read display. It’s easy-peasy and you needn’t struggle to look at the display whilst lifting because the Balanzza’s automatic ‘hold’ feature allows you to check the weight once you’ve put your case back down. Draconian surcharges? Not any more, Stelios!

Step 2 - lift luggage

Lift luggage using scales as a handle

Compact and super lightweight this idiot-proof device won’t impact on your weight allowance, and is so slim it will fit into the most tightly packed suitcase. Take it with you wherever you may roam. It’s ideal for deciding which cruddy souvenir to palm off on the bell boy. Mmm… massive Toblerones.

Capable of weighing luggage up to 100lbs/44kgs, the Balanzza’s ergonomic shape makes it super-comfy to grip and there are no dangerous hooks; your luggage is suspended by sturdy straps. The only tough bit is choosing which things to leave at home.

Step 3 - read the weight

The weight is displayed on the screen

Just think, thanks to this simple but effective gadget you won’t have to force a smile when dealing with sour-faced automatons at check-in because you’ll know exactly how much your case weighs. Best of all, you won’t have to expose the contents of your suitcase to tutting onlookers, so you can shove in as many pairs of ‘I love Barry Chuckle’ underpants as you fancy.

visitor avatar I bought one of these before I went on holiday, it was a godsend as we only had an allowance of 15kg (cheapo holiday). And as I'm so short (5ft) its brilliant as it stores the weight so I'm not standing on the bed to read it! I've lent it to loads of my friends since I've got back and saved them the embarrassment at the airport. Another great product! *high five firebox*.

visitor avatar Went on holiday to the US recently and had looked at quite a few luggage scale options online. I decided on the Balanzza for a few reasons. It was able to cope with heavier weights than most (up to 44kg). The design and shape seemed well conceived (Horizontal lift so you can see the display, easy to grip and therefore probably better for the back. All in all a great gadget that allowed me and my family to pack right up to our limit without going over and getting charged. Oh and it's bang on accurate as well, it went on the airport scales and we got exactly the same weight for each bag :-).

visitor avatar My parents have bought a house in France so until they move there properly they fly back and forth all the time. So figured this would make a great Fathers Day gift. Looked around MK city centre and the ones like this I found were a bit rubbish, one expected you to lift a 40kg back with 2 fingers by the picture. Ordered it on here Monday (yesterday), to give it plenty of time to get here, arrived this morning (Tuesday). Brilliant service, even got a mint Aero in the box as well, so thanks Firebox for providing me with an awesome gift for someone who is really hard to buy for!

visitor avatar Good idea, but man, how do you lift 40kg with one hand??? :O.

visitor avatar It looks really good, but it's so overpriced!!! I saw one for less than a third of the price in a newsagents!!

visitor avatar Bought one of these about 3 months ago, and it's ace!! It works really well. Simply clip you luggage onto the enclosed strap, lift the thing in the air and it weighs your luggage, but being digital rather than a spring balance it then displays the reading for about 10 seconds, so you don't have to read the scale whilst lifting it up!! And it's go to be more accurate than balancing the bags on the bathroom scales. So for any of you easyjetters or ryanairs, buy one and avoid spending £££ on over-weight luggage.
