As you’d expect, the idiot-proof ALBUM features an automatic slideshow function. You can also scroll through pics manually, delete photos and create albums and favourites using its unobtrusive side buttons. Try doing that with an old school photo album. (Actually, don’t; people will think you’re mental).

If you’re sceptical about the ALBUM’s incredible capacity, relax. Unlike inferior digital albums it actually resizes your photos. This means it really does hold 40,000 pics, so you won’t have to resize them on a computer before downloading them. Simply activate the nifty Clean Up function to optimise resolution.
Yes, we know you can trawl through photos on your camera/phone, but unless onlookers have got bionic eyes, the overall effect is pretty rubbish. Think of the ALBUM as a digital portfolio or a hi-tech version of those enormous leather-bound albums that dullards stuff with wedding and holiday snaps.

If you don’t, we can only assume you’re one of those weirdos who takes photos of inanimate objects as well as sunburnt bozos necking tequila, in which case you’ll want to upgrade the ALBUM’s on-board memory – no problem as it’s expandable to a whopping 20GB using SD cards. “And this is me, with the guide, by the temple, on top of the…” Zzzzzzzzz.
Joe shows off his holiday snaps: “And this little fella's called a ‘KOALA’!”

"Nobody enjoys showing off photos like mums and grans, so whether it's a new grandkid or the road trip accross South America, this high-end digital photo album, which can hold more than 40,000 images, is the perfect handbag accessory."ShortList - Dec '09
"Gadget lovers will be in seventh heaven with this digital photo gallery..."Sunday Express - Dec '09
"..stores up to 40,000 images and displays them in super-sharp resolution."Weekend - Jun '09
"Digital photo grames and albums are a great idea, but older models were low resolution, ugly and weirdly distracting because the technology appeared too similar to television. Now, these gadgets are coming of age, and many manufacturers are realising that rather than a photo frame, digital pictures are best suited to portable photo albums. This paperback-sized model is one of the best in terms of both pictures and features. It holds up to 40,000 images, expandable to 200,000. Automatic slideshows and an international charger add to its appeal."Telegraph - May '09

This is a great picture album!! I can put thousands of pictures on it from night outs and holidays to family pictures and days out. The picture quality is brilliant and its very simple to use and transfer pictures. I can also put my memory card from my phone into the album and it allows me to show all my amazing pictures. I can also bring it around anywhere I want as it is very light and not to big to put into a bag and bring into work from time to time. It would be a great family present and I highly recommend buying at least one.Anthony Morgan, Southampton - 31st January 2012
I love this!! I carry it around with me everywhere. The picture is crystal clear and the leather cover is amazing quality. Definitely something I would recommend.Sara Gibbs, Kent - 6th December 2011
Even though its a lovely piece of equipment and works lovely, the capacity is a load of (insert negative remark here) It says it can hold 40, 000 photos, I tried to transfer 3000 and it says it does not have enough room, I then checked its capacity and it has 3. 53GB capacity meaning it would struggle to hold 1000! I don't know if mine is faulty but it feels like I have been flat out lied to! for the price I would expect an honest estimate, not a massive over exaggeration!David Thomas, Wales - 26th March 2011
Firebox says: Hi David, thanks for getting in touch but sorry to hear about the trouble you have had. The Album really should be able to hold this level of pictures because it can resize them to optimize the resolution cutting the space each photo needs. Simply activate the Clean Up function to optimise resolution.
If this doesn't work it could be that your item is faulty. If so then let us know: info@firebox.com
Is there a random function on this ?Ray Wells, London - 27th January 2011
Is there isn't 'any facility to rotate the photos that have been taken on portrait'? Arwel, Aberystwyth - 23rd December 2010
Firebox says: Since the photographs in ALBUM are always stored in their original formats (width and height ratio), if you wish to display photographs in the original full format, turn off the “FULL SCREEN” command in the ADVANCED SETTINGS menu. The original format of photographs is then displayed and unused screen space remains black. In this case you can rotate photographs on PC.
Great picture quality, took a bit of learning but still can't get 40, 000 photos on there? Is this because the original photo is in excess of 5MB/photo?Paul Morgan, Newport, Gwent - 25th November 2010
Firebox says: Hi There, have you tried the Clean Up function? this should optimise the resolution for you.
A nice viewer. Quality feel and the screen is clear and bright Easy to use but one thing is that it doesn't seem to have any facility to rotate the photos that have been taken on portrait. This is an annoyance when using the viewer on a table top as the viewers have to turn their head on the side to view. I have tried rotating the photos before downloading to the album but this doesn't have any effect on how they are viewed. If anyone knows of a way to do this I would be pleased to hear it.Nick, Hertfordshire - 14th November 2010
..Can you create seperate folders on this album or are all 40, 000 pictures all together? Thanks.Adam, Northamptonshire - 16th October 2010
Firebox says: You can scroll through pics manually, delete photos and create albums..
Is this product mac compatible?Talya Stoll, London - 18th December 2009
Firebox says: You don't need to connect to a computer - you can download directly from an SD card or your digital camera.
