Just to clear up any misunderstanding; as long as the user has a TV licence for their home, they can use the portable as long as it's powered only by internal batteries without requiring a further licence.
Another licence is required if the user connects to mains, car battery or any other form of external power. Viewing free from an additional licence in a static caravan is permitted using external power as long as the user has a home licence, and no-one simultaneously views TV from the home address.Duncan, Glasgow - 16th December 2010
So firebox, when you say I need a t. V licence, does that mean I need a separate licence for this, or does the t. V licence already payed for in my household count for this too, even if I use it outside or in someone elses house.Lew, Liverpool - 15th November 2009
Firebox says: You only need one license to cover your premises (you can have as many televisions in the property as you like provided you have a TV license).
