Start with a blank canvas...
Preparing the image...
Scan in or use a digital picture, use the downloaded software to position your image, then print onto inkjet canvas paper...
All you do is print your favourite image on to the self-adhesive Smartfilm paper using your inkjet printer. Next, stick it to the 8x10 canvas (which has already been stretched and stapled around a wooden frame) and smooth down the image, Olympic curling-styley, with the special brush to reveal the texture. Voila! You've got a pro-quality canvas print for under a tenner. It's incredibly satisfying and any dunderhead can do it.
Applying to the canvas...
Trim your print-out |
|
Peel off strip |
Attach edge and flip paper over |
|
Slide across the Smart Film Applicator |
The most unique feature of this easy-peasy process is that your finished masterpiece looks like it's been printed, not stuck, directly on the canvas; an effect that usually costs a small fortune to achieve. No one will ever suspect it's a DIY job. And when admirers gaze at your canvas you can stroke your arty-farty goatee with pride. Assuming you're a man.
Finish it with the texture
up brush
...and voila, magic!

This is fantastic. It didn't take me ten minutes, it took more like an hour, but the results were incredible (though thats mostly because I did a dummy run on plain paper, I didn't want it to go wrong!). The website address given in the pack to download the software does not exist, but the correct website can be easily found through googling. It's made a really unique present for my boyfriend, unless I keep it for myself!Rachel, Luton - Aug '09
Easy to use and just as described! Recommended to all photo fanatics!Sherbet Williams, London - Jan '09
FANTASTIC. Can't believe how professional it looks and is so easy and cheap. You are a bit unsure at first, so simply click onto the 3 minute tutorial and see just how simple it is. I have now ordered another 3.Lynn Waters, Cumbernauld - Dec '08
Firebox says: That's great Lynn, we also can't get enough of these lovely gifts!
After initial nervousness about making a mess of it, this was pretty easy to do and the finished canvas is great.Keith Young, Aberdeen - Nov '08
Are other sizes available?Gideon Lister, London - Sep '09
Firebox says: Unfortunately not.
I do lots of photography but gettting prints on canvas was expensive so thought I would try this. Bit nervous as others had made a mess of it. But I needn't have been, it really is amazingly simple and the results look just like the real thing. I will no longer pay others to do this when I can now do it myself.Nigel, Coventry - Aug '09

I notice a 'standard A4 inkjet printer' is required - does it also work with laser printers?Sarah, Kent - Jun '09
Firebox says: Hi Sarah, yes it will!
I bought this for myself, to use with one of my favourite photos. The software download was easy to use, the tutorial videos were a great help, and the finished canvas looks fantastic. I will certainly be buying more of these. Highly recommended!Robb Lewis, Portsmouth - Feb '09
Bit of a nightmare to use, printed on the wrong side of the paper, managed to wipe the ink off then print on the correct side, then the paper folded in half and stuck together and was useless, felt bad as wife had bought for me as a gift.Tony, Taunton - Mar '09
Firebox says: Wow! Sorry to hear about your bad luck Tony! Maybe the video above will help in the future.
