Create Your Own Canvas
From photo to fine art
Start with a blank canvas...
Preparing the image...
Scan in or use a digital picture, use the downloaded software to position your image, then print onto inkjet canvas paper...
All you do is print your favourite image on to the self-adhesive Smartfilm paper using your inkjet printer. Next, stick it to the 8x10 canvas (which has already been stretched and stapled around a wooden frame) and smooth down the image, Olympic curling-styley, with the special brush to reveal the texture. Voila! You've got a pro-quality canvas print for under a tenner. It's incredibly satisfying and any dunderhead can do it.
Applying to the canvas...
Trim your print-out |
|
Peel off strip |
Attach edge and flip paper over |
|
Slide across the Smart Film Applicator |
The most unique feature of this easy-peasy process is that your finished masterpiece looks like it's been printed, not stuck, directly on the canvas; an effect that usually costs a small fortune to achieve. No one will ever suspect it's a DIY job. And when admirers gaze at your canvas you can stroke your arty-farty goatee with pride. Assuming you're a man.
Finish it with the texture
up brush
...and voila, magic!

Hi, I was just looking at ordering one of these, I was just wondering if the software you download is free as some photo software isn't and I dont want to get caught out by any hidden charges. Also does it have to be the suggested software or can any photo software be used? Thanks.Vicki, - 17th January 2012
Firebox says: Hi Vicki. The software is free to use. As for using any other software, it is recommended you use the supplied software to get the correct dimensions and alignment for the print. That's not to say you can't edit your image before hand using something else!
I've already got an unused canvas, can you just buy the paper on it's own?S, Wiltshire - 12th December 2011
Firebox says: Sorry, we don't currently sell the paper separately.
Will this work with Windows 7 ??Mike Mccann, Guildford - 27th April 2011
Firebox says: No Sorry
This does work, despite a few glitches!
The instructions aren't exactly accurate for the product that is in the box, also the software that I downloaded didn't work, my printer just spat the paper out.
So I ditched the instruction leaflet and software and used my initiative! I used another well know software program and set the margins and printer settings up. I also ditched the applying applicator in favour of my hand!
Anyway, first attempt wasn't bad at all! Looks pretty funky infact.
So it does work...just use your noggin and take your time.
I'm off to buy another...!Lou, Uk - Lancashire - 31st January 2011
Firebox says: Thanks for the advice Lou!
Fantastic product. Purchased one as I was unsure, but now I have done one I have ordered three more! It's easy to use and there are online video tutorials just in case. I was very impressed with the professional end result. Excellent value too, cheaper than the manufacturers site. Love it!Kris, Germany - 29th January 2011
Would not recommend this. I bought two for my mum and in-laws Christmas presents. The paper to print on is too wide, so was chewed up by my printer. The instructions could be clearer, there was one tool and I just had no idea how to use it! I had to put one attempt in the bin, and give a the less thoughtful gift of Bacardi!H, Scotland - 21st January 2011
Do you only get one canvas? so you only can have one picture? Thats a downside....Suzanna, Kent - 17th January 2011
Firebox says: Yes just the one Suzanna
Great product. Bought for the girlfriend for when she gets back from China, and I'm sure she'll love it :D
Only problem - it doesn't take 10 minutes, more like half an hour, but worth it for the end result.
Thanks Firebox!Flump, Bristol - 31st March 2010
I Bought 2 similar items from the manufacturer website until I saw that Firebox had such a great deal on them ... just ordered some from here ... these are easy to maintain, easy to created and look very cool up on my wall... I've decided to buy 1 a week and have them all over my house... A worthy buy!!!Chris Streeter, Brighton - 15th January 2010
I bought this and was dubious at first as I thought I would balls it up but it is amazing. Very good quality if you watch the video tutorial over and over again and pause it whilst you do it. I will be buying more of these and am wrapping the picture for my gf now, cant wait to see her when she opens it!!Chris Moore, Chelmsford - 24th December 2009
