Assuming we're not all participating in some Matrix-style con, it seems likely that space really is the final frontier. So it's no wonder mankind is in awe of the twinkly heavens above. But seeing as most of us have roofs over our heads, we can't truly appreciate the sky at night. And that's where the Astrostar comes in.

AstroStar

Connect the pentagons...

Despite sounding like a dodgy US soccer team, this is actually a flat-packed planetarium/night light that projects an utterly spellbinding map of the heavens on to walls and ceilings. Simply follow the idiot-proof instructions and before you can yell 'she blinded me with science' you'll have a fantastic starlight projector. As Patrick Moore probably wouldn't say, it's totally awesome, man.

AstroStar

...to construct the
AstroStar!

Battery-operated, the Astrostar has a rotating base with compass point alignments that allow you to adjust it according to your location and the time of year. This means you can continually tweak it to reflect the movement of the heavens as the year progresses. So what you see on your ceiling is exactly what's going on in the night sky. The difference is, your view won't be obscured by a blanket of smog.

AstroStar

My God... it's full of stars!

An ideal gift for budding Mystic Megs as well as proper stargazers, the Astrostar is one of the most mesmerising gizmos we've seen in ages. And we didn't even get past the preface of Stephen Hawking's book (although we made out we did). But above and beyond astrology and astronomy, this nifty projector is all about bringing the magic of a starry night into your home. And it does it beautifully.

Whether you're zoning out to music, chillaxing in bed or throwing a Star Trek theme party, this stunning cosmic light show is guaranteed to enthral. Put on the music to 2001: A Space Odyssey and it's like floating through the galaxy...until your mum walks in with a cup of tea. So what are you waiting for? Get ordering and transform your ceiling into the final frontier.

visitor avatar This AstroStar is not fit to be sold in a junk shop. It is outrageously over-priced for such a cheap and tacky looking contraption. Some assembly required, the whole box of contents had to be assembled from scratch and I might add, with great difficulty. It really was not worth the hassle of assembling this unit which is fragile and certainly does not resemble the sturdy looking advertisement photo of the website. Terribly unhappy customer.

visitor avatar I bought this light for my space mad 9 year old son, quite tricky to put together. . Double sided sticky tape that comes with it was utterly useless. . I had to glue it. Light must be used in a totally dark room, at night with no light creaping in from any streetlights via windows or around doors from other rooms. Would be better if it was mains operated. . But having said all that it is very cool and makes you feel like your in one of those spinning tunnels on a ghost trian if you move it around. . 8 out of 10 !!

visitor avatar Looks great once we built it. Took us a while and we thought we put the tape on the wrong side of the peices, but we hadn't :-). Looks great once its setup, but would be even better if it span slowly.

visitor avatar It is a cool product. I did find it a little bit of a pain to put together but once I was there! Woo! I find spinning the top of it makes it fun and can also make you fall over when standing up! Great find firebox.

visitor avatar This is a cool product, it looks really good in a dark room, great for impressing your mates. The instructions are easy to follow and the only tricky part is not getting the double sided tape stuck to your fingers. It takes about 10-15 minutes to assemble - would advise that you bother to read instructions to make sure you don't tape it outside out.
