Mini pitch
Have you ever fancied being a groundsman at a world famous football stadium? No, we thought not. But thanks to Grow Your Own Pitch you'll soon warm to the idea. A brilliantly bonkers gift for any football fan, this smart little planting tray contains everything you need to grow a miniature version of your team's home pitch. Back of the net!
Official certificate
Fully licensed, each Grow Your Own Pitch comes with two packs of the specific seed mixture used to create its full sized counterpart. But isn't all grass (no nudging at the back) the same, we hear you ask? Absolutely not. Apparently it can take up to fifteen years to develop the seeds used on pitches, and each team's turf is grown from a special blend of seed combinations.
Arsenal tin
This (and the skill of the groundsman) is what gives each playing surface its unique characteristics. Just ask Beckham, Terry, Robinson or any other top flight player who's blamed a major bungle on the state of the pitch. After all, we've all tripped over a dodgy blade of grass. Haven't we?
Manchester United tin
Seeds
As well as special seeds, you also get some soil, an image of the stadium to stand in the lid, full instructions and a plastic pitch layout to be added once the grass has grown. Give the pitch a trim and that freshly-mown aroma is enough to bring a tear to the eye. The only thing missing is the flailing loo roll.
Contents
It's not often we associate horticulture with football (tenuous joke removed under legal advice) but Grow Your Own Pitch is one of the most enthralling little pressies we've seen in ages. It's educational, satisfying and fun. You'll be willing your pitch to flourish the second you sow those seeds. And when it does you'll be using your fingers to re-enact classic footballing moments faster than you can scream 'Goaaaaaalllllll!' He plants. He waters. He scores!
