USB VHS Recorder

Plugs into your PC!

We all know VHS tapes were rubbish. Dodgy tracking, limited lifespan, noisy spools, below par quality…we could go on. So we will. Bulky, clunky, fragile, ridiculously slow to rewind - the list is truly endless. But for all its faults, VHS was the leading video format for almost thirty years. And that's why you've got stacks of tapes languishing in the loft and piled up in the cupboard. And that's why you need the brilliant USB VHS Converter.

USB VCR Converter

Plug USB cable into USB VHS Converter and then into your PC

Insert a VHS tape

Open EZ VHS Converter software and press the Record button!

This idiot-proof video player allows you to convert long-forgotten VHS video recordings into pristine digital files. So you can cringe at your shoulder pads in those homemade vids, laugh at Arfur's antics in Minder, marvel at Wogan's hair-don't (course you videoed Eurovision) and sing along to the Shake 'n' Vac ad, without cracking out your soon to be obsolete VCR.

USB VHS Recorder

Converts straight from a 8mm video camera to your PC. You can even connect it to your TV and use as a standard video player!

Simply plonk in a tape, press play and leave the rest to this USB-friendly machine. It doesn't matter if you want to watch reinvigorated recordings on your computer, iPod, PSP or DVD because the included conversion software caters for stacks of formats. Just think, whilst smug commuters watch their latest downloads on the bus, you could be watching (through your fingers) Henry Kelly patronising the Belgian contestant on Going for Gold. Again. Brilliant!

USB VHS Recorder

Get converting now!

As well as its incredible ability to amalgamate declining technology with cutting edge jiggery-pokery, the USB VHS Converter can be used as a regular VCR. Just plug it into your telly's scart socket. And when visiting friends snigger at that front-loading flap, you can fire up your iPod and show them a converted video of Bradley Walsh hanging tough on Celebrity Gladiators. Touché.

Once you've successfully archived your VHS library the only thing left to do is bin those cumbersome tapes. Just make sure you stomp on 'em before heading to the dump. After all, you wouldn't want anyone to find out you'd gone over the final episode of Eldorado with Mallet's Mallet, would you?

Firebox says: Unfortunately we no longer sell this product, though you can check out our U Record Video Converter via the link below(not compatible with Windows 7).
Is this system able to overcome copy protection on commercially recorded VHS.
David McElvain - 30th July 2010
Firebox says: Yup!
Regarding the Ion USB VHS Converter, are you planning on getting this back in stock? Ever? I know it's available on the US site, but I can only imagine what the postage will be and you can't seem to change the country to UK anyway :( Iain.
Iain - 21st March 2010
Firebox says: Not at the moment unfortunately!
My wife bought me one of these for Christmas. Had to send the first one back because it was faulty but we emailed Firebox and the next day they contacted us and arranged delivery and collection for the following day. Fantastic service. The second one works ok and the results are excellent. Only downside is the appalling instructions that come with it. Tried to get instructions online but they are equally as bad. I called the ION helpline who are helpful but really didn't know much and referred me to the website. Worked it out myself in the end. All in all a very good product and I would recommend it, particularly if you are like me and want to put your videos on your IPOD.

Does this work to convert UK VHS tapes to dvd via imovie in usa?
Minhas - 18th December 2009
Firebox says: Sorry, the EZ VHS Converter software is NOT Mac compatible.
Hi, I have purchased one of these to transfer all my old video collections to DVD's, everything records fine (although you can only do around 2hrs per DVD so any longer films you may need to edit). I have a problem on playback via DVD once converted once watching it every after about 2 -3 mins it speeds up for around 2 seconds (so peoples actions are seen in fast motion?) this has happens to two different films so far and its annoying when watching. Is there anything I can do? i. E change PAL setting e. G PAL_B, D, H etc or change playback in HQ high quality?? please let me know as I have 150 videos and this will spoil watching them back. Thanks.

Firebox says: Your best way forward at this time would be to ring the manufacturers directly on 01252 353 850 as they'll be able to figure out what's going wrong in greater detail than we can! If it turns out you've got a faulty unit, give us a call and we can sort out a replacement for you. Really sorry this has happened Jim!
