PicoZ Uranus

Get ready to launch!

Just when you thought micro choppers couldn't get any better, in woka-wokas the incredible PicoZ Atlas. Why it's enough to make you want to embroider its name across your leather flying blouson. Then again, maybe it's not.

Accelerate the PicoZ Atlas at speed!

PicoZ Uranus

Hold down the turbo button to inject a boost of forward motion!

PicoZ Uranus

Hover up and down!

Spearheading the next generation of micro choppers, this groundbreaking 'copter gives you more control than ever as it boasts three channels. This added dimension means that as well as controlling up, down, left and right movement, you can now control forward and backward movement, and hover to your heart's content. Realistic? Just a bit.

PicoZ Uranus

The IR Transmitter

As with other Pico's, the PicoZ Atlas' twin toggle infra-red transmitter doubles up as a charger and features adjustable trim control. But here's the really good bit: there are two PSP-style shoulder buttons that allow you to control this revolutionary flying machine's forward movement; the left button gives normal forward movement and the right one is a kind of turbo boost function for fast forward action. Press both buttons simultaneously and the chopper moves continuously forwards. Geddit?
PicoZ Uranus

The Grey (Channel C) and Red (Channel A) PicoZ Atlas Helicopters

PicoZ Uranus

LED flashing lights!

It sounds complicated but once you get used to this extra element of control your PicoZ Uranus will be buzzing about all over the place. It even utilises a hi-tech gyroscopic mechanism for additional stability. Yes, it takes practice, but it's far easier than flying the real deal because there's none of that complicated foot-to-hand co-ordination malarkey. Or is it hand-to-foot? Or foot-to-mouth? We forget.

PicoZ Uranus

Charge the PicoZ Atlas via the IR Transmitter

In true PicoZ style this fantastically manoeuvrable gizmo is powered by a built-in battery that's charged via the transmitter. Just over 20 minutes should give you flight times of around 10 minutes - more than enough to turbo-boost your way past the boss/headmaster before hovering over the receptionist/dinner lady's head. And if you're lucky enough not to have to go to school or work, you can woka-woka the entire day away and gawp at our fabulously orangey site whilst your PicoZ Atlas' charging. What a life!

Trimming - keeping your helicopter straight:

PicoZ Uranus

If the helicopter is in a spiral clockwise...

or it keeps turning clockwise...

push the right side of the trim repeatedly until the turning stops

visitor avatar If I were going to buy one of the helicopters which would you say is better this one or the PicoZ TandemZ-1 Micro Chopper which is the other one on your website.
Stephen Robinson, Seaham - 14th November 2009
Firebox says: They're too different! Depends which one you like the look of better - one rotor or two? The Tandem is probably also a little bit more of a challenge to fly.
visitor avatar So I bought this thing a week ago, expecting it to be one of those 2 minute interests that I indulge in for a bit then forget about and lose to the man-eating dust in my cupboard. Aadmittedly, after a week, it's still early days, but my goodness there's nothing more satisfying than plucking your own pet copter out of the air. Both my parents had a go, and it spoke volumes when my mum was flying it around the room first time. It does take a little bit of time to adapt to if you're used to remote control cars - I went through a phase where whenever it went towards something I would instinctively stop pressing 'forwards'... except that it was actually 'up' which I stopped... I've yet to bring it into college... though that might be a bad idea all things considered, it's very hard to resist! All in all, a great buy, you need some space for it to enjoy it properly, but if you've got it, then go for it! P. S. Thanks firebox for your lovely festive frenzy... it's truly brilliant.
Tom Wingfield, Norfolk, Where It Seems To Be Popular... - 2nd December 2008
visitor avatar Peter Johnson of Norfolk fear not. I'm knocking on the door of 50, and just got a Pico Uranus. What a hoot! Terrified the mrs, scalped the cat, the dogs left home. The last time I had such a laugh was when my mum caught her whatsits in the mangle!!!!! Great product, well done firebox.
Steve Spencer, Rossendale Lancs - 14th April 2008
visitor avatar If they made an Airwolf one I'd buy it...if they made an Airwolf one that made "the noise" (If you've seen the show you know what I mean. ) I'd give vital organs to have it :-).
Fedris The Red, Norfolk - 14th March 2008
visitor avatar Wow at 49 I really should not be buying things like this but it is fantastic fun. I have never flown one of these before, and it is really a great helicopter to fly. I was soon annoying my kids by turning the head light on and off while hovering in front of them.
Peter Johnson, Norflok - 11th March 2008
visitor avatar Well what can you say about the Pico Uranus (apart from the unfortunately named connotations of the name and all those old jokes). It's great value-for-money. All you need now is the awesome new, digitally remastered Airwolf soundtrack that they've just released called 'Airwolf Themes' which you can download off Apple iTunes Store, or from their official website where there are great teaser samples, http://www.airwolfthemes.com.
