Blue (Channel C): Cool LED headlight!
New Camo (available in all channels): The undisputed daddy of micro 'copters!
Control cap for beginners!
Just like its single rotor siblings, the Tandem is charged via a dual purpose infra red transmitter. But that's where the similarities end, because twin rotors require all sorts of technical jiggery-pokery in order to work effectively.
Orange (Channel A) and Red (Channel B) versions available too!
IR Transmitter
Trimming the helicopter:
If helicopter is in a spiral anti-clockwise... |
|
or it is turning anti-clockwise... |
|
turn the Yaw trimmer gently till turning stops |
If the helicopter is moving forwards or... |
|
moving backwards... |
|
make it hover still by gently moving the Pitch trimmer |
Transparent stabiliser
Despite its powerful double rotors, the Tandem should fly for around 10 minutes from a normal charge of 20-25 minutes. That gives you more than enough time to dream up suitably daft scenarios for every flight. So get ordering - we're off to transport some troops to the broom cupboard.
Charge the TandemZ-1 Micro Chopper via the IR transmitter

"The concept of an indoor radio controlled Chinook, the army's giant twin-rotar, heavy lifting helicopter, is one that is immediately attractive for its complete insanity."The Guardian - Mar '08
"It won't be able to carry troops or heavy artillery, but what the world's first twin-rotor micro chopper lacks in size it makes up for in fun."The Independent - Mar '08

Bought this a couple of days ago and tried it this afternoon. After a couple (few (lots)) of crashes I managed to get the hang of it. The little beast just bounces off everything - legs, arms, tv's and keeps going. Doesn't hurt if it hits you but I wouldn't recommend it. Thankfully I have high ceilings because I'm still a little heavy handed with the throttle but practice makes perfect. Apparently. Anyway, lots of fun. Going to parents later on to scare the mother!!!!Andrew, St.Helens - May '09
Great while it lasts, got around 10mins flight time until the switch broke off making the whole thing useless, waste of money for the fragility of the thing. Avoid.Greg, Belfas - Feb '09
Its very fun but a bit tricky to fly at first but I got the hang of it so I think you will to :0
also money well spent! :).Pilot Lol, In England - Dec '08
Wow, what a great little heli ! If you thought seeing the PicoZ buzz round the room was fun, then this baby has a lot in store for you. It's a little tricky to fly at first, but you'll soon get the hang of it. Unlike the PicoZ this heli has pitch controls that allow you to get some real speed up ! Certainly a challenge to fly, but oohhh so worth it ! Buy one now !Marc Fuller, Maidenhead, Berkshire - Mar '08
I also have the PicoZ Sky Challenger Battle pack, and I can say in confidence that this is by far better. The 3 channel controls allow for more control so you can pull off landings that just isn't possible with other mini copters. I was happy with the delivery from firebox as always, (took less than 17 hours to get here).
The only problem I have is that the battery will run out and you have to wait 20 mins to get going again.Mad Dentist, Southampton UK - Mar '08
Just got my TandemZ-1 and it's great. It's a challenge to control perfectly, which is half the fun, I think.David Miller, Doncaster - Mar '08
What can I say about this helicopter, WOW, this helicopter is so much fun and so much more fun when you take all the training aids off. It helps if you have flown a PicoZ before but even if you do crash they are almost indestructible.Tom , West Molesey, Surrey - Mar '08
Hello, I got my tandem z-1 this morning and am having real problems getting the pitch and yaw set right any tips?Sam, Hull - Sep '09
Great fun, purchased at 12. 00 one day, was at my house the very next morning, lots of fun and durable.Sam, Wraysbury, England - Jun '09
Just got my Chinook today, came very well packaged with a free chocolate bar! A touch tricky to fly at first but you soon get the hang of it. Looks great in the air, it is also great fun to fly with other indoor things like my original picoo z and the palm z plane. Definitely worth the money! Just one question, when you remove the plastic fins can you put them back on? The rear one seems to be glued on so will I have to cut them off?James Eden, Flitwick, Bedfordshire - May '09
