iFly Vamp

Glowing eyes

Seeing as the iFly Vamp is essentially a remote controlled bat we briefly considered writing this in the style of Count Dracula. But zat vood be zilly, vooden it? Besides, once you see Vamp in flight you'll realise it doesn't need any gimmicky sales spiel.

Ultra eerie, ridiculously clever and frighteningly entertaining, the rechargeable iFly Vamp is unlike other motorised flying thingies because it is an ornithopter. Which, as everyone with access to Google knows, means it flaps its wings in order to flit about the skies. It really is a sight to behold. And at only 12"x10" Vamp is the smallest R/C ornithopter in the world.

iFly Vamp

Glowing eyes and life-like flapping wings

iFly Vamp

Small but perfectly formed

Although Vamp gets in a flap, you won't because this is one supremely manoeuvrable little beast. As soon as you get to grips with the twin toggle transmitter (which doubles up as a charger) you'll be swooping around indoors and outside, making sharp turns, fluttering across the night skies and generally scaring the bejesus out of cowering onlookers. And thanks to Vamp's realistic membranous wings and sinister glowing red eyes you might even make the Van Helsings of this world wet their pants with fear. Aargh!

iFly Vamp

small and handy!

Charges directly from the remote controller

Light flashes when fully charged

Despite its size, Vamp is extremely durable and will withstand the roughest of landings. Which is just as well because this ready-to-fly critter utilises some genuine state-of-the-art jiggery pokery to keep it airborne. Best of all you won't have to travel to some Transylvanian robot dimension to get hold of one because we've got a whole colony of the scary little blighters here at Castle Firebox. Indeed, we think Vamp's going to fly (well, flap) off the shelves faster than you can say Nosferatu. Zo hit ze Buy button and make it znappy. Mwa-ha-ha!

visitor avatar I also bought one of these in the spring sale, I have been after one for ages! They do need a lot of room inside, great for scaring my cats. Outside they are brilliant, but if its a bit windy they seem to react like they are picked up on a thermal & will go up & up & up. You have to pull back on the power & wait for them to glide back to earth, some considerable distance away. All in all a great toy, I want my own small army of them, would like to see a bunch of them in a dogfight - Brilliant!!

visitor avatar I bought one of these in the Firebox Spring Sale - ta Firebox! The most surprising thing is the noise it makes - a high pitched chirping - definitely adds to the 'spooky' effect along with the glowing red eyes :) It's advertised as being suitable for indoor use, but the instructions recommend a room of minimum 16 feet by 16 feet - which my lounge isn't. It always crashes into the wall before I manage to turn it! It works great outside though (if it's not too windy), so maybe I'll get better with practice....
