In a nutshell the idiot-proof USB Guitar Link acts as an interface between your trusty frets and your computer, giving you the best of both worlds. You can jam and record your plucking genius using the included Audacity software and Kristal 16-track production program. The nifty software can even slow down the music files on your computer for easy learning/practice. It's like having an entire studio squeezed in your house.

Unfortunately the USB Guitar Link is NOT currently compatible with VISTA. They are working on a version that is though so keep an eye out.

I was just wondering how useful this is in a live setting through a PA via a laptop? Could I replace my effects rack with it?
Firebox says: This product is great for learning guitarists and anyone interested in their effects. Playing in a live situation may cause some problems however as you'll have to release your fretting hand to cycle through the effects on the computer.

The USB Guitar link is an amazing piece of kit. It is like those top end Boss guitar pedals except it is all combined into one. Bit fiddly in terms of installing the drivers for the USB input and output (very important as without new drivers there is a lag between playing a note and hearing one).
All the greatest guitar effects you would want. HOWEVER. The only down side is... not having the stomps boxes, it means that turning on or off an FX sound would require mouse usage, and also the wah wah pedal can't be used in full as there isn't a foot pedal to use. I am sure they is a way to over come this.
Also very good in terms of recording your own music, clean and crisp. !
