Voco Alarm Clock

The Deluxe version – 150 sayings!

Modern alarm clocks are dreadfully uncouth, aren't they? The more refined gentleman prefers to be coaxed gently out of bed by his faithful manservant. After all a few choice words are infinitely more civilised than anything today's clanging contraptions can muster.

So wouldn't it be great if a velvety-voiced butler were to awaken you each day. And not just any old butler but an incredibly witty, quintessentially British butler. Someone like, say, Stephen Fry. Well guess what? Thanks to the Voco Clock, Mr Fry will do exactly that, and you won't even have to liaise with his agent.

Voco Alarm Clock

Time to wake up

These elegant talking alarm clocks represents a radical departure from newfangled timepieces as it initially lures sleepers out of boboland with gentle birdsong. This is followed by a discreet cough. Next, the comforting words 'Good morning, Sir' will stir you from your slumber. Then you'll hear one of many amusing little messages recorded by Stephen Fry, owner of the most mellifluous voice in Her Maj's Empire. We love 'em all but a few favourites include:

Press and hold the rosette button to stop the alarm.

Finally an alarm will sound until the rosette button is pressed, at which point the Voco will show its contempt for all things modern by dismissing the beeps with something along the lines of: 'Ghastly noise, I agree, Sir.'

As well as 50 different wake-up messages, the Voco Clock features a 90-second relaxation message to help ease you to sleep. Oh, the sheer luxury of it. It really is like having your own personal butler. Played by Stephen Fry. Living in a traditional-looking alarm clock. (We could do with a bit of shut-eye ourselves).

Voco Alarm Clock

Wake up with style every morning

The perfect gift for all you lazy blighters and twittish idlers, the Voco is guaranteed to raise a titter every time you hear its inspired one-liners. So hurry up and hit the Buy Button. Because to quote the butler: 'Sir has a firm touch, but very fair.'

visitor avatar Hi, when will you be stocking the deluxe "madam" version of this again?
Sally, UK - 16th December 2010
Firebox says: We don't have any plans to at the moment, sorry.
visitor avatar Two questions: 1) I wonder if you'll be stocking the 'Deluxe' version anytime before Christmas? Or is this product being phased out? 2) I heard rumours that these clocks can be switched from 'Sir' mode to 'Madam' mode (at least in the 'Deluxe' version), by keeping the rosetta pushed whilst inserting the batteries? Any truth to that?
Werner, Bournemouth - 29th November 2010
Firebox says: There is a 'Madam' version of the clock, but unfortunately we don't stock it anymore. We are not aware of being able to change the clock from 'sir' to 'madam'.
visitor avatar Do you still make the "madam" version and if so where can I get it?
Beth, OXFORD- UK - 21st November 2010
Firebox says: Not something we stock, unfortunately, but a quick Google may help you find what you're looking for!
visitor avatar A question... i'm trying to get hold of the Female Version that says 'Madam', do you stock this item?
Crayg Ward, Wales - 2nd November 2010
Firebox says: Not anymore unfortunately. Sorry!
visitor avatar What a great idea! I bought this for a friend & could hardly bear to part with it. He has been raving about it ever since he opened it! What a lovely way to be woken up. A+++++.
Joanna Astbury, Ashford, Kent - 10th December 2009
visitor avatar Not a review - a VERY important question. Does it tick? Even slightly? Can't stand ticking (or even slightly clicking) clocks in the silence of the bedroom. If it is TOTALLY silent during the night, I'll buy one! Steve.
Steve, Worcester - 14th September 2009
Firebox says: It ticks! Not loudly, but it ticks.
visitor avatar This is indeed a wonderful clock. How great it is to be awoken by Jeeves instead of a cheesy song or more bad news. I'm rather amazed at how many different greetings there are. However there are a few things you should know about it. Firstly, it does not plug in to a wall outlet; it runs on three AA batteries (one for the clock, two for Jeeves), which means if the battery runs out one night waiting for the alarm to go off and wake you for your interview on Oprah, you're sunk. Also, it ticks very loudly. I have mine on the opposite side of the bedroom because it's so loud. However that turned out to be a good thing since I have to actually get out of bed to turn off the beeping that starts when Jeeves is done his spiel. Lastly, the snooze button gives you around FORTY MINUTES, not nine or so like most clocks. In summation, it's a great novelty, but unfortunately it lacks the few touches it needs to become your main clock. As soon as one is made that can plug in, has a reasonable snooze time, and doesn't wake the dead with its ticking, I shall purchase it instantly. Most inconvenient, sir, I know. I believe it's the designers that are to blame.
Bingo Little, Canada - 30th June 2009
visitor avatar Absolutely FANTASTIC! It really IS like having Jeeves gently massaging your brow the morning - and the sleepytime-hypnotism thing is AWESOME! Works like a treat every time!
Craig, Lancaster, UK - 21st February 2009
visitor avatar Have just received the ladies version of this clock as a gift from hubby...am delighted, though he may not be quite so enamoured...lol! I only wish Jeeves delivered his message and there was no further interruption of my sleep. That, I would adore!
Firefly, Usa - 11th December 2008
visitor avatar A Fantastic product!! Wakes me up to go to work (the joy...) in the morning and no more of that incessant beeping which makes you want to throw tha larm clock on the floor and smash it up! Anyway... a great product at a great price!! 5*.
